Job Description
Role Number: 200652974-0836
Summary
We are seeking a creative and hands-on Experience Quality Engineer to help shape and guide the experience for Apple's next-generation input technologies. The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for user experience and customer voice throughout the product lifecycle.
You will join a collaborative team of developers and industry experts, working from prototypes through production. You will work at the intersection of many disciplines, on a variety of projects, and with multiple partners across Apple. You are technical and curious, learning from both technical and non-technical partners while communicating effectively across all teams.
Description
Working in the Human Interface Devices team, you will work at the physical and digital intersection of our products. You will serve as a critical facilitator across a wide range of experts in interactions, sensing technologies, and user experience, helping to align diverse perspectives toward exceptional product experiences.
You will identify scenarios where a feature or design works as written, but the "feel" or outcome isn't quite right. You will act as a strategic partner and advocate for the user—representing the voice of the user throughout the development lifecycle—to Firmware, Software, and Algorithms Developers, as well as Product Design and Human Factors teams. Using qualitative and quantitative data you generate, you will influence design decisions and guide the behaviors that define the user experience.
This role requires exceptional cross-functional collaboration and a talent for facilitation. You will curate and guide prototype demonstrations for leadership across multiple levels, connect human factors experts, interface designers, industrial designers, and marketing teams to ensure product cohesion, and help translate insights into shared understanding. You must be able to articulate user flows and clearly communicate complex experience issues to a broad scope of roles across Apple, including senior leadership in highly visible settings with schedule pressure and other constraints.
Minimum Qualifications
Passion for understanding how things work, and how users interact with technology
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and aesthetic sensibility
Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Human Engineering or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in software development, validation, or a related technical field
Proficiency with Python and C++ or Swift (or other similar languages)
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of experience in experience quality or development with a track record of shipping quality consumer products
Proven ability to facilitate alignment across diverse teams and stakeholders
Experience with using mixed methods to deliver both qualitative and quantitative learnings about user experiences
Ability to build custom analysis and visualization tools to help understand user behavior and experience data
Ability to navigate the full technology stack, from embedded firmware to iOS/macOS applications, to curate compelling experience demonstrations
Experience working with human factors teams, interface designers, industrial designers, or marketing teams on product development
Eagerness to focus on user experience, with proven ability to advocate for the user throughout the development process
Ability to articulate complex user flows and experience issues to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
