Job Description

Purpose

The HRConnect Senior Benefits Specialist is a key part of AbbVie’s Human Resource (HR) Operations group supporting the HRConnect delivery model. The HRConnect Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting US benefits and leave administration, including partnering with vendors to resolve Tier 2/3 benefit issues, advocacy for employees related to health care issues.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Primary support for leave, disability, and worker’s compensation administration.

  • Provide support on return-to-work status questions regarding job protection, workers’ compensation claims, transition from active employment, questions relating to absence and disability.

  • Manage escalated disability, leave and worker’s compensation claims to ensure benefits are provided in accordance with AbbVie policies.

  • Manage worker’s compensation claims greater than 40 hours of loss time to ensure appropriate resolution.

  • Manage litigated worker’s compensation claims to facilitate timely resolution with outside legal counsel and outsourced venders.

  • Manage central mailbox and address escalated matters and inquiries relating to disability, workers’ compensation and leave issues.

  • Manage accommodations resulting from a leave and coordinate return to work efforts and involve additional parties when necessary.

  • Payroll Integrations: audit and approve payroll for employees on leave, resolve payroll matters.

  • HRIT Integrations: benefit delivery, status changes, status updates, and problem resolution related to disability and work comp, ltd buy-up benefit vendors

  • Coordinate with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS): Safety/Worker’s Compensation and ergonomic issues

  • Process separations and terminations from company for employees on leave

  • Ensure AbbVie is compliant with all state and local paid leave and sick leave laws including coordination of state filings.

  • Provide Tier 2 & 3 support for escalated health and welfare issues not resolved by external vendors or the HRConnect service center.

  • Assist with new employee orientation meetings in rotation with other HROperations team members

  • Manage employee death processing related to notification of vendors, Workday updates and other external notifications needed

  • Health Benefit support includes employees, eligible dependents, and retirees in the U.S.

  • Contribute to HRConnect initiatives, projects, and goals.

  • Other responsibilities, activities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Position requires 3 to 5 years of Benefits, leave of absence, worker’s compensation, and disability experience or other relevant transferable skills related to benefits or disability management.

  • Must have excellent business writing and oral communications skills.

  • Needs strong project management skills.

  • Must pay close attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Must be a proficient user of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Must work well in a team environment and also be able to contribute independently.

  • Must be self-directed and able to handle large, concurrent projects at the same time with minimal supervision.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. Salary: $82,500 - $157,500
