Job Description

The American Express Global Privacy Oversight are trusted advisors on compliance with Privacy Laws, Rules, and Regulations. We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance with both internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization. As a second line of defense function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy risk management framework.

The Global Privacy Reporting team conducts data analysis to identify privacy risk metrics, communicates targeted reporting, and influences risk management strategy.

This position is hybrid and reports to Sheldon Pearson.

Responsibilities

The Privacy Regulatory Intelligence & Reporting Manager is responsible for translating complex and evolving privacy regulatory requirements into clear, actionable reporting for senior leadership, board-level audiences, and governance committees. This role sits at the intersection of privacy laws/regulations and data interpretation, ensuring privacy obligations are not only understood but are measurable, trackable, and embedded into enterprise decision-making.

The ideal candidate will bridge legal and regulatory expectations with data-driven insights, developing meaningful privacy reporting and metrics frameworks enabling transparency, accountability, and strategic oversight.

  • Translate Regulatory Requirements into Actionable Insights : Interpret global privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA/CPRA) to define regulatory reporting obligations. Proactively evolve privacy reporting and metrics in response to evolving regulatory trends and industry best practices.

  • Deliver Executive & Board-Level Reporting: Design and produce reporting for senior leadership, board, and committees—clearly articulating privacy risk posture, control effectiveness, and emerging issues in alignment with enterprise risk frameworks.

  • Establish Privacy Metrics & Intelligence : Develop meaningful Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor adherence to privacy regulatory requirements (such as Data Subject Rights, Data Breaches, Consent Management). Partner with a cross-functional group of stakeholders in the design, data ingestion and reporting and escalation of privacy KRIs/KPIs.

  • Build Scalable Reporting & Governance Frameworks: Create standardized, enterprise-wide reporting frameworks with consistent definitions, thresholds, and escalation criteria, aligned to privacy regulatory expectation and broader risk and compliance frameworks.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Alignment & Continuous Improvement : Partner across Legal, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and various Business teams to translate privacy regulatory requirements into data-driven privacy oversight.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in privacy, risk, compliance, or regulatory reporting in a highly regulated industry.

  • Working knowledge of global privacy regulations and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA).

  • Experience developing reporting and materials for senior leadership and governance forums.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience defining and tracking metrics (KPIs/KRIs).

  • Ability to synthesize complex regulatory and qualitative/quantitative technical information into clear, actionable insights.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, and PowerPoint) and analytical tools and visualization software (e.g., Tableau).

  • Ability to think critically and independently, devote significant attention to details, and remain highly organized.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to develop relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders in a global environment while appropriately influencing without direct authority.

  • Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Professional industry recognized certification in Privacy preferred (CIPM/CIPP-US/CIPP-E, etc.) a plus.
