The U.S. Consumer and Digital Technology (USCDT) Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.
The Director Assistant (Chief of Staff) will report directly to the EVP, USCDT. This person will see and influence how strategic decisions are made in our organization, prepare presentations to communicate out the strategy and vision, provide recommendations for areas of improvement, implement a communications strategy for the organization, drive culture and innovation, and manage key activities to support the team day to day. The candidate will be a key member of the USCDT Leadership Team, working closely and collaborating with all members of the team. They will possess outstanding thought leadership, critical thinking, visual storytelling talents, an uncanny ability to juggle multiple priorities, and a proven record of excellence operating independently and within a hard-working team environment. The role offers a hand-on experience to a wide range of responsibilities within the Technology organization, providing a comprehensive learning experience tailored to develop the DA’s skills and expertise in this domain.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage business planning, meeting strategy, and operational processes on behalf of the EVP office
Organize and facilitate leadership meetings, calls and forums. Plan content & agendas and manage follow-ups for meetings involving EVP and broader leadership team
Coordinate office operations and ensure the seamless delivery of Technology and AXP information requests
Create good working relationships across the organization to improve information sharing, problem solving and idea generation for key business issues.
Seek out and implement standard methodologies and industry trends which can be used to increase organizational efficiency and quality
Act as a force multiplier / delegate when needed e.g. delegated EVP responsibilities
Lead goal-setting and measurement process for the EVP team
Lead end-to-end creation of impactful and comprehensive communications / presentations for key business reviews with senior management
Accelerate executive decision-making by:
Conducting ad hoc analysis, research, and data collection
Creating structures for organizing and presenting information
Minimize fire drills through meticulous planning
Run major annual talent management processes in close coordination with CEG, e.g. talent assessment and year-end performance management.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to provide strategic thought leadership and lead projects with limited guidance. The individual must be composed, organized, and a strong communicator who can effectively multitask and prioritize as needs evolve. Additional qualifications include:
Proven track record to take sophisticated technical information and translate it into clear communications (presentations/memos) for a variety of audiences
Proven ability to navigate effectively and efficiently within large, complex organizations
Demonstrated ability to drive strong results, think strategically and globally
Ability to juggle multiple tasks, with excellent organization skills and careful attention to detail
Proven work experience within areas such as Technology, Project Management, and / or CEG (Human Resources)
Experience with CEG processes and / or familiarity with American Express business groups preferred
Demonstrated project management, organization and planning skills applied in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
Passion, energy, personal accountability and a desire to learn and grow as a leader
Excellent judgment with high integrity and ability to manage confidential information
Outstanding interpersonal / relationship building, oral and written communication skills
Solid analytical and financial competence
A standout colleague who is able to build consensus and work across a large and complex organization
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, work effectively in ambiguous situations, and a willingness to take charge and get results
Active listening skills, summarization skills and lateral thinking to uncover and react to emerging opportunities
Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and be flexible and communicative when faced with changing priorities
Engineering background and/or experience a plus
Typically holds a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or has equivalent work experience)

Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
