The Assistant to the Custodian of Records will work in a collaborative environment where the incumbents will represent American Express in the US courts as a witness within the American Express litigation program. Responsibilities will include appearing in court as a witness, preparing for such appearances by researching and providing information supporting the outstanding balance and customer liability. Reviewing and executing litigation process required documents/affidavits. Reviewing Affidavits for accuracy and executing them is essential and is a major requirement for this job. The incumbent will be required to travel and appear in court throughout the US, review and sign affidavits as needed.
This position requires the incumbent to represent American Express in courts; maintain the Brand image and protect American Express assets. Formal business attire suitable for appearing in US courts (in-person or Virtual) is a must. Professional business Casual attire in the offices is acceptable. Assignments cover the entire US as needed regardless of your physical location.
Residence Location: This is a virtual position; however, candidates must have a home residence in one of the following locations: Phoenix, AZ; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Thousand Oaks, CA; New Jersey; or New York.
Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Analyze litigation worthiness of collection cases. 
- Research account history and provide pertinent information to support the case 
- Review and recommend the best approach to the litigation case through analyses of such reports as Credit Bureau, AssetReal Estate Identifiers, Account History. 
- Make quick decisions regarding settlement or continuance of the litigation based on evidence presented while balancing theBrand image with the best financial recovery for AXP. 
- Review / Analyze legal documents, such as affidavits for completeness and correctness in content and balance, as required by State & Federal banking regulations. 
- Sign affidavits/declarations for the litigation process as an assistant Custodian of the Records for American Express. 
- Interface with management and attorneys with Outside Agencies and AXP. 
- May need to obtain a Notary license. 
- This position is focused on driving collection results via the litigation channels. 
Minimum Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of American Express Personal, Business, Corporate, Merchant Financing or similar Credit Cards or Banking operations (e.g. Credit & Collection policies & procedures both for Card Members and Merchants,) Banks, American Express Brand standards and policies. 
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are “a must” 
- High percentage of travel is required (70% plus), which may require traveling on weekends and holidays for the following day appearances. – Flexibility is a MUST. 
- Effective communication, collaboration with others, influencing internal and external partners at all levels. 
- Must have good working knowledge of American Express systems to retrieve account information. Must be able to track and understand Card members’ charge activities, history with all the accompanied notes. 
Performance Measures:
- Effectively manage self-travel expenses. 
- Make all scheduled appearances and affidavit signings. 
- Extremely flexible with the schedules and be a great team player. 
- Effectively optimize the collection dollars for assigned cases. 
- Effectively communicate with all parties involved. 
- Complete all mandatory training and other requirements timely. 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Court Room experience is a good plus and preferred. 
- Good working knowledge of Excel to maintain the scheduling tool, extract and summarize data for the reporting and staffing purposes with general understanding of new technologies usage and on-line processing.

Salary Range: $65,500.00 to $102,500.00 annually bonus benefits
