Manager-Global Payment Network Debit Pricing

New York, NY, United States(Hybrid)

Job Description

American Express operates the global payment network business through Global Network Services (GNS), through which we establish and maintain relationships with third-party banks and other institutions in approximately 120 countries and territories, licensing the American Express brand and extending the reach of our global network. We are seeking a Manager to join us. In this role, you will shape the future of American Express's pricing strategy for the debit domain, partnering closely with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to drive profitable growth. To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of pricing strategy, exceptional communication and leadership skills, and a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, complex environment. If you are a driven, innovative, and collaborative individual with a strong business acumen, we invite you to join our team and make an impact on our global network services business.

This newly created role of Manager is an exciting opportunity to contribute and support the evolution of network pricing strategy.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Global Payment Network Debit Pricing will:

• Develop and implement pricing strategies for American Express's Global Network Services to drive profitable growth.

• Develop new pricing constructs for AXP’s network Debit card products, leveraging data-driven insights to support principled and optimized network pricing strategies.

• Conduct in-depth research on the external landscape and distill key insights to inform the GNS Debit and broader pricing strategy.

• Support Network Partner negotiations by developing data-backed proposals, driving alignment with internal stakeholders, and ensuring outcomes that are in-sync with AXP’s value proposition.

• Manage project workflows with limited oversight from leadership, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and next steps.

• Continuously assess and improve pricing processes, reporting and tools, leveraging technology and data to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

• Act as a subject matter expert on pricing strategy, providing guidance and support to other teams within the organization.

• Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the impact of pricing decisions on business performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in financial services, payments processing, and/or strategy consulting.

• Expertise in debit landscape and pricing models, particularly in U.S, strongly preferred.

• Strong analytical aptitude with high proficiency building dynamic financial models from scratch to support scenario-based, quick-turnaround decision making.

• Proficiency in SQL strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated expertise in translating complex analysis into digestible, executive-facing presentations.

• Strong relationship management, collaboration and communication skills – ability to lead discussion, manage internal stakeholders and drive to consensus.

• Results-driven, with the ability to work under pressure, navigate ambiguity, draw linkages, and balance multiple priorities.

• Intellectual curiosity to go deep on problems and opportunities.

Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
