Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Work on large-scale data processing platforms in Petabyte scale that run in the hybrid cloud environment to support Analytics, Data Science and Machine Learning teams at Apple Maps. Design and develop batch data processing platform for metrics computation and machine learning and improve the performance and scalability using Apache Spark. Design and develop streaming data processing platform for real-time analytics using Apache Flink, Kafka and Iceberg. Design and develop analytics query platform for exploratory data analysis and improve the ad-hoc query performance using Apache Trino. Optimize the cost and efficiency of data processing platforms utilizing containerized environment such as Kubernetes in the cloud. Collaborate with internal partners and stakeholders to modernize Apple Maps' data platform with latest big data technology. Partner with internal and external domain experts to contribute new features back to the big data OSS community. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $177,838 - $264,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
Using Apache Spark, Apache Flink, and Kafka to design and develop data processing platforms and improve the performance and scalability.
Strong hand-on programming skills in Java or Scala to develop JVM based data processing platforms.
Architecting large-scale distributed computing systems with AWS or GCP technologies.
Working on big data storage platforms and query engines with knowledge in Hive, Iceberg, or Delta Lake.
Using workflow management frameworks such as Apache Airflow to build data orchestration and automation for big data pipelines.
Developing infrastructure automation using Python, Shell Scripting, and Yaml.
Building the foundation of data platforms using a containerized environment such as Kubernetes.
Using open source query engines such as Trino or Presto to support analytics query tooling.
