Description

Steiner Industries, a division of Bunzl, is seeking a Sewing Machine Operator for our facility in the North Chicago area. This position will operate commercial sewing machines to perform curtain, blanket, and garment sewing operations, such as hemming, joining, reinforcing, or decorating garments or garment parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality professional experience with single-needle and over lock/cover-stitch machines; experience with double needle, bar tacking, and serger machines preferred

  • Experience working in a production environment

  • Prior experience working with a variety of materials such as: leather, coated fiberglass, plastic vinyl, cotton, stretch fabrics, and hems

  • On the job training will be available for our products

  • Must have the ability to work efficiently to meet shipping deadlines

  • Assist with spreading materials to be cut

  • Assist with other production machines as necessary

  • Measure and cut materials as necessary

  • Assist with folding and inspection as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma highly preferred, but not required

  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

  • Knowledge of various finishing operations

  • Ability to work quickly to meet necessary deadlines

  • Willingness and flexibility to perform a variety tasks

  • Overtime will be required on occasion as required by business needs
