DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Assistant Controller to join our team specializing in Finance for Cummins, Inc. in Rocky Mount, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Manage Accounting Practices : Oversee all accounting practices for the Line of Business/Regional Distribution Organization and lead the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and forecast processes.

  • Drive Business Decisions : Conduct strategic financial analysis to support business decisions, analyze business results, determine root causes, and prepare recommendations for management.

  • Collaborate on Accounting Practices : Work with the Business Unit Controller to ensure consistent application of accounting practices.

  • Ensure Strong Control Environment : Maintain a robust control environment across key business cycles.

  • Resource Management for Audits : Ensure availability of resources for internal and external financial and process audits and forecast logistics costs and inventory to drive logistics and working capital effectiveness.

  • Lead Financial Analysis on Capital Projects : Oversee financial analysis for capital projects and manage the overall capital management process, including monthly and quarterly financial reporting.

  • Compliance with Reporting Requirements : Lead efforts to comply with Securities and Exchange Commission reporting requirements and other regulatory organizations.

  • Finance Succession Planning : Drive finance succession planning and ensure the finance function is structured to support the needs of the Line of Business/Regional Distribution Organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Financial Analysis - Develop a keen eye for identifying trends, variances, opportunities, and risks in financial data. This will help you provide valuable insights to stakeholders and drive business improvements.Regularly evaluate financial results against targets and communicate your conclusions clearly to all stakeholders.Maintain the accuracy of financial data by investigating variances and implementing corrective actions.

  • Financial Planning and Forecasting - Use financial forecast data to create projections that aid decision-making. This involves partnering with stakeholders to analyze trends and validate assumptions.Ensure your forecasts align with the organization's goals and strategies.

  • Technical Accounting – As related to a manufacturing environment; blending cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting. Specific areas of experience include cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, overhead allocation, and work-in-process accounting. Additionally, ability and experience with high transaction volumes, complex cost structures, regulatory compliance, and variance analysis are expected.

  • Communicates effectively - Develop and deliver communications that are tailored to the unique needs of different audiences. Utilize various communication modes to convey your messages effectively.

  • Business Partnering - Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to drive performance that aligns with organizational goals.Use your knowledge of the business to influence decision-making and guide the organization towards positive results. This includes evaluating the business environment to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or similar certification required.

  • Significant experience required, including strategy, managerial and budgetary experience in a large manufacturing or distribution center environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

Support strong internal control environment by supporting the following activities:

  • Rigorous review of monthly account reconciliations

  • Strict adherence to the Month-End Close Checklist

  • Support all other CMI & site-level Internal Control initiatives & tasks

Support site level savings initiatives through preparation of meaningful reports and expert advice on specific actions and results

Mentor/coach staff to reach their full potential through the following activities:

  • Conduct regular 1x 1s

  • Professionally confront the status quo through challenging goals/workplans for all Finance Staff

  • Support professional development objectives for staff

This position is Onsite.

Compensation

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
