Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Implement Infrastructure as Code using various provisioning tools such as Terraform, Pulumi and Ansible using facets of the Kubernetes landscape from Packaging, Deployment, CI/CD, Security, Governance, Scalability, Fault tolerance, Canary Deployments etc. and implement solutions to run Production Applications in Kubernetes. Build and manage large scale web and iOS applications in order to explore different cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, AliCloud) and implement solutions to meet business need that are used by Apple retail store employees worldwide. Build Docker base images to enable all application teams to have a consistent manner of package software by writing code in the form of web applications, server side microservices, CLI's to build tools to help automate day to day tasks. Design and maintain scalable and fault tolerant production serving infrastructure to assist with end to end design and architecture of such tools, and conduct design sessions with the larger team to gather feedback. This includes application architecture, datastores, messaging clusters, network layers. Develop and monitor systems to proactively detect production issues and enable quick auto-recovery and to help monitor different facets of application architecture such as hardware, datastores, load balancers, network etc. Write a fair amount of code, a lot of work will also involve operationalizing and integrating systems to get continuous delivery pipeline kicking in and identify specific configurations for OS Tuning based on load and performance testing. Review software installed on the systems (firewall, datastores, docker, micro services) from a security
standpoint to minimize any security risks and upgrade server operating systems with latest versions on an ongoing basis to avoid vulnerabilities. Identify performance bottlenecks by working closely with development team and help in designing fault-tolerant and resilient applications while working closely with development and QE team to understand their needs and provide constant feedback to the stakeholders. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $226,158 - $264,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
Using Shell Scripts on Linux to improve deployment infrastructure and processing.
Using Load Balancers, DNS (e.g. Route 53), and Nginx to effectively help distribute web traffic across multiple servers to improve performance and reliability.
Using MySQL, Postgres (SQL datastore), AWS DynamoDB, and MongoDB (NoSQL datastore) for storing, managing and retrieving data.
Using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and Git for Infrastructure automation and deployment.
Conducting large scale production monitoring, and troubleshooting as on-call support team.
Utilizing Docker, Jenkins, and GitOps principles for CI/CD implementation – aka Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) system design and development to help
aid an efficient and reliable software delivery.
Utilizing Web and REST for Micro services application architecture including Java and Tomcat to enable flexible and decoupled services, promoting scalability and performance and adhering to principles of resource-oriented design
Managing application deployments as well as maintaining infrastructure using cloud vendors (e.g. AWS, GCP, or AliCloud)
Utilizing Kubernetes to execute brand new application stacks as well as lift and shift existing cloud applications.
