Business Unit/Role Specific Info

The American Express Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C) team is a strategic function that works to enhance and protect the continued strength of the American Express brand through public relations, social media and content, colleague communications and corporate sustainability (CS).

Our organization is seeking a high-performing summer intern to join a winning global communications team. The internship provides a terrific 10-week opportunity to gain hands on experience in many aspects of media relations, employee communications, and corporate sustainability. The intern will work on high visibility projects that help advance strategic business initiatives. Throughout the course of the summer, interns are given exposure to senior leadership across CA&C.

How Will You Make an Impact in This Role?

  • Writing and editing press releases, messaging, pitches, social media copy and more

  • Researching and creating targeted media lists

  • Developing and implementing internal communication strategies and events

  • Brainstorming potential communication concepts and approaches to select marketing programs

  • Assisting with the creation and execution of social campaigns around select sponsorships

  • Researching various company initiatives –benchmarking against competitors, identifying background articles for interview preparation, researching issues for executive event preparation documents

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree candidates with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program

  • Curiosity about writing, social media and communications

  • Excellent written, verbal and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently when needed

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate flexibility

  • Excellent attention to detail

Qualifications

Salary Range: $24.05 to $63.00 hourly sign-on bonus

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
