Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their best work. Together we build products and experiences people once couldn’t have imagined — and now can’t imagine living without. If you’re excited by the idea of making an impact, a career with Apple might be for you!

Data Operations produces the annotated data that fuels supervised learning model development at Apple. We are a global organization of specialists across a rich set of domains and tasks. The AIML Data Operations Analytics team is responsible for helping the organization make better decisions through data, visualization, insights, and analysis. This is our mission.

We seek a Data Scientist to advance the impact of our team. In this position, you will expand the boundaries of our team’s contribution -- from a focus on data reporting and visualization toward the use of models to deliver insights, support decision making, and optimize performance.

As a key member of our global and dynamic organization, you'll have an excellent opportunity to work with datasets of a magnitude, richness, and dedication to user privacy that will require groundbreaking techniques. You'll work collaboratively with partners across the organization to identify and deliver new sources of business value.

Description

You will contribute to our mission by providing high-quality modeling, analysis, and visualizations, developing metrics, and producing insights that advise decisions made by cross-functional partners. You will work independently to achieve team goals, bridging gaps in understanding between the Analytics team and our customers.

  • Elicit requirements, develop, maintain, and manage sophisticated reporting, analytics, dashboards and other business intelligence solutions for our internal customers

  • Apply analytical methods to large data sets to identify sources of value and inform the business decisions that improve organizational performance

  • Perform and document analysis, validation, and data mapping/design

  • Find opportunities for organizational optimization; work with partners to frame opportunities; identify, model, and evaluate alternatives, and implement the winners. And plan retrospective analyses to validate improvements

  • Apply machine learning to make predictions that inform action. Start with potential sources of value and work back to the required data and model to unlock them. Propose and present solutions to decision makers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in data science with skills in framing and developing meaningful and concise analytic solutions to general business problems; A/B testing experience is a plus

  • Facility in SQL-based languages, and proficiency in at least one general purpose programming language such as Python or Java

  • Hands-on experience with machine learning models and sophisticated analytic solutions using libraries such as scikit-learn; Experience with LLMs (GenAI for business processes, SFT for specific business situations) a plus

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate optimally between business and analytic teams at multiple levels of the organization

  • Intellectual curiosity and dedication to learn and understand business needs

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using git for source control

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS

  • Experience in data visualization like Tableau

  • Experience in big data technologies like Spark

  • Experience in software development life cycle standard processes

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a related field a plus
