Business Continuity Management (BCM) is essential in today’s environment. The ability to respond to disruption such as a natural disaster, infrastructure failure, or a pandemic underpins our commitment to deliver for our customers and protect our business. The BCM program addresses the recovery of key business operations in the event of an unplanned disruption. The program designs the methodology for risk assessments, Business Continuity Plans, and exercises, which are continuously updated based on lessons learned to strengthen resilience and preparedness. It also manages and coordinates crisis response efforts, working with multiple stakeholders across the enterprise to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
This role is responsible for supporting the implementation and enhancement of the company’s enterprise BCM program and will support daily operations, coordinate policy and compliance efforts, and delivering subject matter expertise to business units to ensure execution of first-line responsibilities.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Provide project management leadership and support for program enhancement initiatives.
Support the development, coordination, and implementation of American Express’s enterprise BCM program, including policy, regulatory compliance, third-party risk management, reporting, training, and exercises.
Deliver business continuity subject matter expertise and guidance to assigned business units to drive engagement and ensure execution of first-line responsibilities within the BCM program.
Support engagement with business disruption risk teams and key stakeholders such as Third-Party Lifecycle Management, Technology Resilience, Global Security, Facilities, etc.
Lead and support crisis response teams during incidents, ensuring coordinated, timely, and effective decision-making.
Drive crisis preparedness by developing and maintaining response protocols.
Design, plan, and conduct tabletop exercises with senior management to test organizational readiness and enhance cross-functional response capabilities.
Partner with stakeholders to identify gaps in crisis response strategies and recommend improvements.
Support quality assurance activities by monitoring adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to internal and external audits and regulatory examinations, including evidence gathering, reporting, and remediation activities.
Report on business disruption metrics, including analysis, trends, and key risk indicators.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three to five plus years of prior experience in enterprise program management, operational risk management, business continuity, or audit within the financial services industries.
Strong project management skills and expertise.
Solid conceptual thinking and risk mindset with ability to understand process and/or operations management.
Problem solver and agile decision-maker with solid analytical skills.
Strong written communication and presentation skills (e.g. appropriate messaging for multiple levels/audiences).
Experience with troubleshooting issues and developing remediation plans, with clear stakeholder notifications.
An ability to build relationships and effectively mobilize cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in reporting with advanced Excel skills to analyze, interpret, and present data effectively.
Excellent collaboration, communication. and presentation skills with ability to interact and influence leaders across all levels and teams in a matrixed organization.
Proven ability to work autonomously and effectively prioritize amid shifting focus, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.
Solid conceptual thinking and risk mindset with ability to understand process and/or operations management.
Ability to plan and drive change through cross-organizational efforts.
Ability to deliver high quality, actionable feedback to management.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or advanced degree.
Background in Business Continuity Management or related risk management program role.
Experience in Banking industry

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
