Summary
The Apple Vision Science team is looking for an enthusiastic vision scientist to support the development and advancement of cutting-edge imaging and display solutions, applications, and technologies for current and future Apple products.
The team features a highly collaborative and hands-on environment that fosters scientific and engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation in the interdisciplinary areas of vision science, image processing, color science, neuroscience, and optics.
This position focuses on developing vision models/metrics and carrying out advanced psychophysical experiments to support the sophisticated imaging and display technologies in the Apple ecosystem.
Description
Develop models/metrics to quantify user experience
Compare and optimize algorithms for the best possible user experience
Design and conduct robust studies of user experience, human vision, and image quality
Guide feature and spec definition for future products based on aforementioned metrics
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Vision, Psychology, Neuroscience, Imaging, Color, Computer, Optics Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related and 3+ years relevant experience
Experience in psychophysical methods
Experience building computational models of vision, in an area such as spatial vision, flicker perception, eye movements, motion perception, color vision, or related domains
Experience in MATLAB, Python, Mathematica, or similar simulation and modeling tools
Preferred Qualifications
Masters or Ph.D. in Human Vision, Psychology, Neuroscience, Imaging, Color, Computer, or Optics Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant related discipline
Basic understanding of digital imaging and display software and hardware
Experience in the design, conduct, and analysis of human perception experiments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Strong analytical & critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
Experience using eye trackers, and analyzing and interpreting eye movement data
Experience with Psychophysics Toolbox, PsychoPy, Swift/Metal, or similar tools
Experience in SDK programming for app development and/or hardware interface
Experience in real-time signal processing with low latency
