How will you make an impact in this role?

The Global Merchant Services (GMS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express’ revenue: Merchant discount revenue. GMS Pricing works closely with multiple partners to determine the ideal pricing structure for merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction.

The Senior Manager in U.S. Pricing Strategy and Planning is responsible for leading project management and the execution of strategic pricing initiatives in a compliant and rigorous manner. This position will collaborate across Relationship Management, Marketing, General Counsel’s Office, Technology / Product Management, and Controls Management organizations in a fast-paced environment on projects with significant impact to the U.S. merchant business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the merchant business, as well as exposure to and insight from Leadership across the Blue Box. The Senior Manager should be a dynamic individual who can work closely with partners and leaders and has the right ambition to drive change.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate centralized planning processes for U.S. Pricing, collaborating across multiple teams and developing frameworks that drive decision-making

  • Manage key compliance-related support activities including ORE mitigation efforts and definition of critical processes

  • Manage key U.S. Pricing-driven strategic initiatives and programs, as well as ad hoc senior leadership requests

  • Lead the ongoing development of a robust pricing infrastructure, including documentation and mapping of critical internal processes and implementation of a strong control environment

  • Mange cross-functional relationships across Merchant Acquisition, Client Management, Finance, Legal, and Operations to drive alignment on strategic pricing initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in consulting, management, project management, strategy, or related experience

  • Expertise in preparing PowerPoint presentations tailored to various audiences

  • Strong project management skills with full ownership of end-to-end execution, including ensuring documentation of key workstreams and tracking against deliverables’ timelines

  • Detail- and action-oriented individual able to work autonomously with limited direction

  • Proven ability to actively collaborate across teams as well as lead and contribute to discussions with partners and Leadership

  • Strong organization and prioritization skills while working in an agile manner

  • Demonstrated proficiency in drawing value-added insights from data and presenting compelling recommendations through effective verbal and written communication

  • Some level of proficiency in Excel, TM1 and BigQuery/SQL and/or willingness to learn and develop

  • Some level of proficiency with large data sets

  • Ability to excel and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred financial services industry experience and an understanding of related products, services, features, economics and key regulations

  • Advanced degree

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
