American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the leading payment card issuer for corporations and small businesses with products and services to help them run and grow their business. Within GCS, the GCS Product Development and Enterprise Solutions team leads product development on a robust portfolio of products and capabilities for our small business and corporate customers. The team also leads product design and research across GCS as well as business development initiatives to support our banking scale.

How will you make an impact in this role?

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead a critical Digital Product Development function.

Reporting into the VP, Middle Market Digital Experiences, you will lead Product Development for the delivery and ongoing optimization of Corporate Expense Management & Program Experience journeys including Horizontal Experiences, Enterprise and Core Expense. These journeys form a critical component of a new Digital Business Ecosystem designed specifically as a best-in-class digital experience for Middle Market Businesses. Your objective will be to deeply understand this segments’ needs and bring to life a digital vision that both makes it easier for our Middle Market Business Customers to do the things they need to do and deepens their relationship with American Express.

You will lead a high performing team of Product Managers and be responsible for setting the Product vision, feature prioritization, requirements definition, release sequencing and delivery. You will partner across Product Management, Engineering, Design, Analytics and other Product Development Teams in order to prioritize features and develop roadmaps that maximize Business impact and solve user problems. You will have a passion for marketing, technology and business strategy and enjoy being challenged in a fun, collaborative, diverse and inclusive team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a team of 15 Product Owners to deliver and continuously optimize digital experiences that enable Middle Market Customers to self-serve and run their business using Amex digital tools.

  • Develop and own Product Delivery Roadmaps and backlogs, aligning release scope and sequencing in partnership with Product Management and Engineering.

  • Partner with UX Design & Research to build the best user experience that makes digital experiences easy to use and tasks easy to complete.

  • Drive discovery, solutioning and delivery in partnership with stakeholders through a clear Product framework and agile processes, including standardized ceremonies and artifacts.

  • Partner with Engineering and Design to continuously assess and improve the agile working practices of the team, reducing waste, improving throughput and maximizing the delivery of value.

  • Continuously engage with partners to maintain product transparency, build trust and address concerns and challenges.

  • Update Senior Leaders on progress and performance on a regular cadence.

  • Ensure required product governance, controls and testing are incorporated into plans and delivery.

  • Build an inclusive, cooperative, high performance team culture.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 7 years working within a digital product software development team

  • A track record of leading, developing, and delivering significant, complex software projects within large organizations

  • In depth knowledge and demonstrated experience of product frameworks, agile processes and principles

  • Technical fluency to clearly describe tradeoffs with users and engineers and weigh solutions

  • A strong background in strategy and strategic planning

  • Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills at senior levels of an organization

  • Strong communicator, both written and spoken

  • Able to build positive relationships, influence decisions and deliver results

  • Comfortable with constructive conflict

  • Highly organized, self-starter, comfortable working in white space

  • An ability to work in a deadline driven environment with a fast pace and changing needs

  • Attention to detail and a keen understanding of analytics

  • Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision and motivate, inspire and challenge a high performing team to achieve that vision

  • Experience in managing geographically distributed teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Sciences or related field

  • Masters degree or MBA is a plus

Qualifications

Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
