Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Create power proxies representative of large-scale GPU workloads. Create and enhance automated regression flow for power data generation using PowerArtist for RTL and PTPX for gates. Develop automation in Python/Perl to speed up power data analysis. Analyze power regression data to identify power reduction opportunities. Implement power reduction changes in RTL and gates. Validate power reduction changes via functional verification or formal verification (LEC/LEQ). Identify architectural opportunities for power saving via transaction or byte count reduction. Create power data visualization platform to facilitate developing architectural intuitions. Instrumenting RTL and test benches to extract key energy metrics and counts. Create GPU energy model in Python to support architectural design decisions. Conduct pre-silicon and post-silicon power correlation to ensure GPU meets its energy goal. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 - $214,500/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
Education and/or experience must include the following skills;
Utilizing PowerArtist to analyze and identify power reduction opportunities at RTL level.
Utilizing PrimetimePTPX to analyze and identify power reduction opportunities at gate level.
Utilizing Python, json and Splunk to create power data visualization infrastructure.
Utilizing SystemVerilog or Verilog to implement power reduction changes at RTL level.
Utilizing Verdi to inspect design waveform and validate power reduction changes.
Understanding low-power design techniques, including clock gating, data gating, and redundant memory access reduction.
Understanding digital power fundamentals to create a bottoms-up, transactional energy model.
