As part of the Camera Silicon Architecture team, you’ll help design innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last! You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to explore, define and drive the development of next-generation camera silicon chipset architectures!

The Apple Camera team is looking for an Image Sensor Validation Engineer. This engineer will have a critical impact on camera system design, and on the quality of one of the most visible features of our products.

Description

• Collaborate with internal camera system hardware and software engineers to understand requirements and opportunities for future feature development
• Interact with sensor vendors to understand how they are verifying requirements and validating their implementations
• Develop methodologies for internally and externally validating system requirements including emulation of current and future camera system use cases
• Develop and publish reference drivers and recommended configurations to internal teams to enable characterization, manufacturing, and product integration
• Evaluate image sensors as part of both a camera module and the camera system to understand sensitivities, design tradeoffs, and to ensure the successful integration of the camera module into products
• Assess and demonstrate new image and depth sensing technologies
• Travel to vendor sites as required for implementation reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field

  • Experience in one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or other scripting languages

  • Experience with design validation or characterization

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5 years experience

  • Proficient with optical and electrical characterization tools, including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes

  • Familiar with design validation or characterization of cameras, image sensors, other sensor or display technologies. Non-image sensors experience (ambient light, proximity, depth, MEMS, for example) is desirable.

  • Authored formal specification documents

  • Experienced in defining validation plans based on an understanding of component level requirements and intended use cases

  • Developed software or hardware for validation platforms

  • Worked on software to support lab automation

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
