The Apple Media Services Engineering group is looking for a Senior Manager committed to lead our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team dedicated to our Apple Data Platform. Whether you’re thinking Site or Service, this SRE organization has ownership of it all. We’re as actively involved in the design of the platform, its evolution and overall availability, reliability and scalability. Our SREs are experts on our services from the software running down to the hardware used.
Description
As the Senior Manager you will shape the future of the Apple Data Platform SRE team by being both a product centric and engineering minded leader. You will be responsible for the quality of the customer experience in production and in the ideation, design, and development of what’s to come. You will have a proven ability to solve problems whether they require a rapid response or a long term strategy.
You will know when to make a critical decision or gain cross functional consensus. Responsibilities will include:
Building software and systems to manage services and applications through automation
Deployment support and monitoring of existing and new services, platforms, and application stacks
Measurement and optimization of service performance
Explore and evaluate new technologies and solutions to push our capabilities forward and solve tomorrow’s problems, not just today’s
Minimum Qualifications
10 years of software engineering experience
5 years of software engineering management experience
Bachelor of Science in relevant engineering disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
Track record of building and running high-performance teams
Experience with distributed systems in a production operations environment
Advanced experience with programming and/or scripting languages (Golang, Python, Java, bash)
Experience with DevOps tools, processes, and culture
Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions that are easily maintainable, understandable, and diagnosable
Able to write clear and consumable documentation
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work optimally across multiple business and technical teams
Demonstrated ability to deliver results on time with high quality
Extensive experience leading customer facing systems in a high uptime 24/7 environment
Passionate about leading a global 24/7 engineering organization
A consistent track record of automation
Lifelong learner who fosters diversity of thought in their approach to management
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $252,400 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
