Our Internal Audit Group is a worldwide function with 400+ team members and offices across nine countries within American Express. We are committed to growing our audit staff significantly as we continue to expand and enhance the Internal Audit Group.
Our assurance and risk professionals have diverse backgrounds including internal controls, consumer compliance, technology, operational risk, financial accounting, data analytics, and banking operations. Our audit teams align to key risk areas and business units to ensure IAG can provide comprehensive and risk-based audit coverage. In addition, IAG has a Professional Practices group responsible for managing audit operations, quality, and standards; regulatory relations; reporting; training and professional development; and key internal capabilities and technologies.
About the Role:
The Senior Manager, Project & Change Management within the Audit Department’s Professional Practices group, plays a key role in executing and supporting change initiatives across IAG. This role is responsible for supporting the governance and execution of IAG change initiatives, contributing to the department’s broader transformation by enabling the adoption of new processes, tools, and ways of working.
The Senior Manager will act as a central coordinator across Professional Practices, Audit Teams, and the Company’s Project Governance function, ensuring alignment, effective communication, and supporting the timely delivery of change initiatives. In addition, this role will partner closely with stakeholders to support the planning, tracking, and adoption of key change efforts.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Support the execution of the IAG project and change management strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the Company’s project management standards
Contribute to the enhancement and consistent application of IAG’s project and change governance frameworks, tools, and methodologies to drive effective stakeholder engagement, communication, training, prioritization, and adoption of changes
Support strategic planning activities for the annual audit planning cycle, including coordinating inputs across stakeholders, aligning to IAG’s strategic objectives, and ensuring priorities, governance, and progress updates are effectively managed through established forums (e.g., ILT, SteerCo).
Lead coordination of project and change management activities across Professional Practices, Audit Teams, and the Company’s Project Governance function, serving as a key liaison to ensure alignment and execution.
Identify, monitor and escalate change and project risks and support mitigation planning across initiatives
Influence stakeholders across levels to drive alignment, resolve conflicts, and ensure timely decision-making
Develop and maintain performance metrics, reporting, and dashboards to provide transparent visibility into progress, risks, and outcomes for IAG leadership.
Support and/or manage governance routines (e.g., working groups, steering forums), including agenda setting, materials preparation, and follow-up on actions and decisions
Champion the adoption of new technologies, agile practices and digital tools to enhance project and change management execution.
Identify opportunities to improve project and change management processes, tools, and reporting, and drive enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
Partner with stakeholders across IAG to drive adoption of changes and reinforce new processes, tools, and ways of working
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability across project and change initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ Years experience in audit, compliance, risk management consulting or within the financial services/banking industry with knowledge of financial and banking regulations
Strong knowledge of change and project management frameworks with demonstrated experience leading project and/or change management processes.
Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
Effectively works independently, within a team and across teams in a fast-paced environment to drive business results, utilizing related project management skills, employing creative thinking, a focus on quality, and the ability to work on competing priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within an internal audit department or second-line risk/control function.
Familiarity with audit methodologies and audit management systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and program management skills.
Proficiency in using data analytics, audit management tools, and agile delivery principles is a plus.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment.
Advanced degree
Relevant certifications (e.g., CIA, CISA, CRMA) preferred.
