Introduction
The Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) Organization is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. Global Risk & Compliance creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Program Management leader to join the GRC Products and Capabilities team in GRC. The GRC Platforms and Capabilities is responsible for the strategy, design and implementation of large-scale platforms and associated centers of excellence to empower risk management teams in GRC and the Company to effectively manage risk. Several of these projects are categorized as Big Bets and are pivotal to the Company's success. They represent significant opportunities for growth and innovation.
Role and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will drive the programs including Enterprise Top initiatives through the following centralized activities:
Lead program and project planning along with key stakeholders.
Work extensively with workstream owners to brainstorm solutions and to coordinate deliverables of end-to-end requirements
Provide thought leadership by understanding synergies and dependencies across cross functional workstreams and connections with other transformation initiatives or existing AXP processes
Develop meaningful relationships across the enterprise to drive progress against milestones and ensure roadblocks are escalated quickly for resolution
Anticipate and Identify risks and issues related to projects and programs and guide the team and stakeholders with mitigation actions
Prepare executive level program office communications at a cadence necessary to keep all stakeholders apprised and provide opportunities to make timely decisions to advance our progress
Run the Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) function for GRC
Manage forecasting process for significant investment budget, including performance tracking and optimization
Manage financial management and tracking of large budgets.
Optimize PMO resources across the various workstreams
Grow and develop team of strong performers
Skills and Qualifications:
7 years experience in program management and PMO functions including partnering with multi-stakeholder teams including Business and Process leaders, Technology, Finance etc.
Experience in leading large teams of program managers or project managers
Aptitude for building new technology products.
Demonstrated leadership with a track record of positively collaborating, influencing, and extensively coordinating with internal and external partners, including senior leaders. Proven ability to influence across teams outside of direct reporting line
Superb communication skills to synthesize key messages, prepare impactful materials, and tailor appropriately for the audience. Must be able to convey messages by telling a story, both, upwards and downwards.
Excellent financial and analytical skills and strong understanding of Amex business processes, planning and forecasting processes
Ability to operate with an agile mindset; comfortable with white space and ambiguity.
Exceptional organizational skills; Project Management and Process Transformation skills with demonstrated ability to lead large scale transformation initiatives
Deep experience communicating with and presenting to senior level audiences
Ability to attract and grow high potential talent
Experience in Risk Management related processes and systems is a plus
Understanding of Regulatory and Compliance landscape, operational processes, and interdependencies in American Express is a plus
Experience working with American Express Business or Technology PMO functions is a plus.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
