The Director – Colleague Communications is responsible for developing and executing a communications strategy to inform and engage colleagues of the global Enterprise Technology Services organization in understanding and delivering the organization’s strategy, priorities, and goals. This role sits within the company’s Corporate Affairs & Communications team. Reporting to the Vice President – Communications, this role will lead one Manager colleague and will partner with the broader communications team and Enterprise Technology Services subject matter experts to define key messages and consult on appropriate communication channels, vehicles, and tactics to support the delivery of key initiatives and programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Create a comprehensive colleague communications plan to support the Enterprise Technology Services strategy, optimizing colleague engagement by leveraging various channels and vehicles, meetings/events, distribution and feedback mechanisms, and more.
Build a data- and results-driven approach to message delivery, content management, and engagement.
Deploy innovative approaches and tactics to drive colleague engagement.
Develop and manage an editorial calendar aligned with organizational priorities, partnering across Enterprise Technology Services and the broader communications team to populate and manage content.
Take a global approach to storytelling by partnering with the Corporate Affairs & Communications team to drive the use of colleague-focused content in enterprise channels, both internally and externally.
Plan and execute communications to support the annual internal hackathon, developers conference, learning and development programs, and other colleague events.
Leverage KPIs, performance metrics, and data-driven analysis to assess communications effectiveness, identify trends, and recommend improvements to optimize engagement and impact.
Maintain the Enterprise Technology Services visual identity toolkit for communication channels and vehicles, to ensure ongoing alignment with American Express brand guidelines.
Build and sustain a network of subject matter experts and other stakeholders to help shape the Enterprise Technology Services strategy and editorial calendar, provide feedback on communication plans and deliverables, and suggest improvements to strengthen impact and engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 -10 years of experience in managing colleague communications programs within a corporate communications setting.
Demonstrated leadership, exercising excellent judgment and people-management skills.
Proven track record of delivering high-impact internal communications.
Superior writing and editing skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively across a variety of formats and audiences.
Experience producing creative campaigns to engage a large global organization.
Expertise in developing content across multiple formats, including video, podcasts, and infographics.
Strong knowledge of communications delivery platforms and measurement tools.
Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional collaboration skills and an ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
Ability to interpret technical information into language that is understandable by and compelling for a variety of audiences.
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within a technology organization and partnering with technical subject matter experts to communicate highly technical content.
Proficiency in the use of common workplace tools; ability to develop graphics and other visuals to enhance the effectiveness of communications.
Strong knowledge of content management and employee experience platforms (Unily a plus).
Qualifications
Salary Range: $123,000.00 to $215,250.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
