Job Description

We are seeking a Associate Scientist to perform mRNA production and mRNA process development. The candidate will do in vitro transcribed (IVT) mRNA production, mRNA purification, and perform analytical characterization under appropriate supervision.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Perform production and purification of in vitro transcribed (IVT) mRNA

  • Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation, especially chromatographic purification and TFF filtration

  • Quality control analysis of mRNA products including gel electrophoresis, Dot blot, UV, etc.

  • Develop new techniques for mRNA process development at small and large-scale production of mRNA

  • Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques and appropriately modify protocols, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences.

  • Maintain appropriate lab notebooks and electronic records

  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and appropriate handling of materials and drug substances

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 3 or more years’ experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).

  • Basic understanding and hands-on experience with AKTA systems and Unicorn software and TFF techniques are preferred

  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, within prescribed guidelines, and as a team member.

  • Ability to draft routine reports and keep accurate records of work performed.

  • Able to learn complex tasks with general instructions.

  • Able to use experience to perform a variety of new techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed directions in a research laboratory environment.
