The Siri Search Ranking team is creating groundbreaking technology for artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing! The features we create are redefining how hundreds of millions of people use their computers and mobile devices to search and find what they are looking for. Siri’s universal search engine powers search features across a variety of Apple products, including Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages and Lookup. As part of this group, you will be doing large scale machine learning and deep learning to improve Query Understanding, Retrieval, Ranking and Answer Generation of Siri Search and developing fundamental building blocks needed for Artificial Intelligence. This involves developing sophisticated machine learning models, using LLM, embeddings and deep learning to build end-to-end production system including query understanding , ranking, LLM powered Search for Q&A, taking advantage of petabytes of data and signals from millions of users and combining information from multiple sources to provide the user with results that best satisfies their intent and information seeking needs

The Search and Knowledge Quality Team at Apple is seeking exceptional Machine Learning Engineers to join our prestigious group of world-class experts specializing in large-scale data management and machine learning systems. You will play a pivotal role in pushing the boundaries of knowledge question answering within Siri and other Apple products, impacting how hundreds of millions of users interact with their devices. In this role, you will design and develop cutting-edge features for platforms involving large-scale data management, machine learning, and deep learning systems applied to graph data, web documents, and both semi-structured and unstructured data feeds. This is your chance to shape upcoming Apple products by leveraging your applied machine learning expertise and robust software engineering skills, alongside a diverse team of applied scientists and distributed systems engineers. Your contributions will refine user search experiences, ensuring they are not only seamless but deeply satisfying in meeting users' information-seeking needs.
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years industry experience
Proficiency in one of following languages: Python, Go, Java, C++ Experience in LLM, machine learning, deep learning, information retrieval, natural language processing or data mining
Experience with large scale search and machine learning systems
Ability to understand/clarify product requirements and translate them into technical tasks in ML modeling and engineering
Preferred Qualifications
MS or Ph.D in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science or a related field
Excellent knowledge and good practical skills in major machine learning algorithms
Excellent data analytical skills
Good interpersonal skills
Passion for building phenomenal products and curiosity to learn
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
