Amex Digital Labs is responsible for catalyzing digital innovation by originating, incubating, and managing emerging products and platforms that can be essential to our customers’ digital lives. We strive to emphasize creativity, customer centricity, and innovation. Focus areas include crafting industry-leading digital payment solutions, using our outstanding servicing network and lifestyle assets to build digital experiences, and defining new products and services based on emerging technologies and trends.
The Product Enablement team plays a pivotal role in supporting the development and control environment for digital products across Amex Digital Labs. They lead go-to-market implementation and product operations by working closely with the Product Development and Business Development teams within Digital Labs and operate as a critical advocate across cross-functional stakeholders for customer experience and risk mitigation by driving uplifts to our governance processes.
The successful Director candidate will lead a high-performing team and serve as the central business contact to lead operational product requirements to drive speed to market, while balancing the critical need for controls and risk mitigation, for key strategic projects on behalf of Digital Labs. This person will develop a deep understanding of product initiatives and exhibit strong subject matter expertise in key Amex policies and processes.
Responsibilities:
Guide the go-to-market implementation and product operations for new digital initiatives including:
Lead end-to-end internal management for the global launches of new digital payment products
Project manage across Amex Digital Labs teams (Product Enablement, Product Development, Business Development) and other key relevant partners (e.g., Operational Excellence / Control Management, Compliance, Legal, Information Security, Privacy Marketing, and Servicing) to guide product through appropriate Amex reviews & approvals (i.e., Third-Party Management, New Product Governance)
Influence cross-functional teams to ensure business alignment, requirements, and resourcing levels are optimal throughout plan
Develop project trackers/overview decks, maintain ongoing project update meetings, and regularly communicate with partners regarding product strategy, value proposition, and project updates
Collaborate closely with international markets to secure necessary approvals and share standard methodologies in global markets when applicable
Actively contribute to product ideation through customer, merchant/partner, and internal feedback to uniquely problem-solve obstacles and produce winning solutions
Proactively anticipate risks/issues and ensure appropriate mitigation planning is in place to avoid compromising delivery
Improve processes, develop toolkits/resources, and reengineer activities across the team to help increase agility and speed to market
Supervise ongoing performance of products live in market and provide thought leadership on post-mortems to optimize future launches
Communicate with key stakeholders with regard to program strategy and direction, process uplifts, and policy changes
Lead a high-performing team of B30 and B35 colleagues
Qualifications:
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence partners across a wide variety of functions
Experienced and inspiring people leader passionate about developing talent with a proven track record to lead people across varying skills and tenure
Ability to drive results against timelines, prioritize, and execute flawlessly
Demonstrated strategic, critical, and creative thinking to problem-solve obstacles and develop winning solutions
Outstanding program management skills to lead end-to-end partnerships across several key verticals simultaneously – product development, engineering & technology, marketing, operational excellence, servicing, legal, compliance, information security, etc.
Self-starter that can excel in a dynamic environment by driving decision-making, working well under pressure, and adapting to frequent change
Excellent relationship-building with partners and across internal stakeholders
Possess intellectual curiosity about the evolving digital, mobile, and alternatives payments space and innovative membership experiences
Prior experience in articulating product functionality and demonstrating technical acumen a plus
Bachelor's Degree required, MBA or PMO certification a plus

Salary Range: $144,250.00 to $256,250.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
