This critical team is responsible for managing enterprise risks through the customer lifecycle and across all our global products. We develop industry-first data capabilities, build profitable decision-making frameworks, create machine learning-powered predictive models, and improve customer servicing strategies. The Risk Products & Data Strategy (RPDS) group is part of the Credit and Fraud Risk organization. RPDS defines and drives the transformation and modernization of risk management capabilities across the company’s technology platforms.

FOCUS

The Senior Manager of Product Management is responsible for leading the Product Management function within the larger Global Risk Products & Data Strategy (RPDS) team. This is a stakeholder facing role that partners with Credit Risk as well as Product and Marketing teams to define the long-term vision and roadmap to deliver best in class, next generation underwriting capabilities for Risk Decisions, support the annual planning as well as prioritization process for Program Increments, groom requirements with stakeholders and product teams across risk and enterprise agile release trains, track progress and provide transparency.

The Senior Manager will lead the implementation of innovative credit and fraud risk initiatives within the scaled agile framework. They use technical and strategic business knowledge to work with cross-functional teams in various domains across the company.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leads the creation of credit risk capabilities for consumer and commercial card & non-card portfolios for Next Generation Underwriting programs. Plays a central role in detailing the blueprint, and work in close partnership with Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, RPDS, American Express Technologies (AET), Enterprise Digital Data Solutions (EDDS), Marketing, and Global Service Network (GNS) teams, as well as external experts to arrive at the best design/solution and ensure globalized capabilities are enabled as part of Next Gen Underwriting enablement.

  • Partners with risk, product, and acquisition stakeholders to define a clear medium to long term vision and the roadmap to achieve the same

  • Influences business strategies and roadmaps by sharing content knowledge, expressing diverse points of view, challenging conventional thinking with principles and facts as appropriate

  • Defines the business solution - global, standard, and flexible business capabilities that are well documented, meet compliance requirements and rapidly adapt to changing business needs

  • Integrates external views in business solutions to give our capabilities long shelf life, and maintain competitive advantage

  • Leads the quarterly prioritization process for Program Increments (PI), ensure requirements are fully groomed with stakeholders & product teams before the PI

  • Acts with transparency using various channels of communication to speed up decision making, mitigate issues, promote healthy dialog, give/receive feedback, foster partnership across all levels of stakeholders

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Deep knowledge of risk management processes and the associated data and technical systems supporting the customer lifecycle

  • Resilience while managing multiple projects/priorities simultaneously, often under high pressure and tight timeframes to drive the enterprise agenda forward

  • Elevated growth mindset with big picture thinking, lean startup approach, and personal agility

  • Proven relationship, dynamic communication skills, effective influencer

  • Experience in operating within the Scaled Agile Framework of technology development

  • Deep and broad expertise in systems/capability development including data flows, database design

  • Strong ability to think strategically to enable fundamental transformation

  • Understanding of American Express on-boarding and customer management risk systems/processes is very desirable

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, management, or related fields

  • 3+ year of experience in risk management or product management
