U.S. Consumer Services is responsible for American Express’ suite of consumer products, services, and experiences in the U.S., including our premium, cobrand, cash back, and lending portfolios, Membership Rewards, Global Travel & Lifestyle Services, the Centurion Lounge network, our Global Dining and Resy businesses, and best-in-class marketing programs. The team’s strategy is to build a strong premium Card business differentiated by Membership, which is brought to life by connecting our Card Members to what they love.

VP of Pricing Strategy and Capabilities will serve as a critical leader within the U.S. Consumer product organization and will oversee our Card and Personal Loans pricing strategy. This leader will be responsible for determining how we use Pricing as a holistic tool to drive sustained portfolio growth - influencing both customer demand and engagement, while also maintaining balanced portfolio economics and margins. The team has responsibility for all customer-facing pricing constructs on new and existing products (including APR, fee and interest methodology), and works in close partnership with partners from product, risk, and marketing and technology to optimize key pricing programs. The team will be tasked developing a roadmap of pricing capabilities to ensure we enhance the customer experience and reduce operational complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pricing strategies and capabilities to support new lending products and a pipeline of future enhancements to enable growth.

  • Develop a roadmap to automate the execution of standard pricing changes to reduce time to market and improve quality.

  • Lead acquisition pricing strategy and create an environment of continuous test and learn with keen awareness of the external environment.

  • Partner closely with credit risk teams to use price as a lever for driving positive select and to maintain healthy portfolio margins.

  • Create and enhance pricing business self-testing and process controls to maintain an assured lending business.

  • Create and assess the feasibility of a pipeline of new pricing and lending ideas by working with partners across the enterprise.

  • Partner with the Finance team to forecast the P&L impacts of pricing decisions as well as to deliver new pricing frameworks.

  • Monitor and extract insights from the competitive & regulatory environment and assess impacts on pricing strategy across segments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 Years of professional experience in pricing or business/financial analysis or related discipline

  • Tenured people leader with a growth mindset and a passion for coaching and team development

  • Strong commercial acumen and proven ability to build effective relationships with business partners, peers and key stakeholders

  • Strong strategic decision-making and influencing skills with ability to assess key decision levers, make recommendations and balance shareholder and customer objectives

  • Excellent financial analysis and problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex financial terms into key insights with linkages to business strategy and objectives

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and proven ability to communicate effectively to audiences of all levels

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Knowledge of commercial payments industry & economics is advantageous

Qualifications

Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
