The Audio and Media Technologies (AMT) group provides the audio, video, and graphics foundation across all of Apple's innovative products across iOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, macOS, AirPods and Beats. The Audio QA team provides audio software quality engineering support across all of Apple’s products.
We are seeking a creative, organized, and proactive triage engineer to join our triage team as we field audio bugs from engineering, developers, and customers—truly, the whole world. In this role, you will interact with an extensive breadth of audio issues spanning across all of our hardware and software products, including accessories. Critical yet thoughtful thinking is your strong suit—you are able to identify and appreciate the nuances of our products and features as they relate to digital audio. Those who are adept at load balancing, working with an ever-changing community of users and devs, all while handling inevitable context shifts, will shine in this role. Description
This is a high visibility job that involves a deep understanding of what everyone on the team is working on. You will combine a love of Apple software and Audio with a strong dedication to product quality and reliability. Excellent communication and teamwork are a requirement, as you will be asked to work closely with bug originators, team members, and other engineering teams. This role is suitable for those who crave the opportunity to learn and synthesize massive amounts of audio-based knowledge around expected behaviors, device capabilities, and ecosystem interactions. And this role is perfect for those who want to do all of that while supercharging their capabilities using generative AI.
Responsibilities:
Screen and triage incoming audio bugs (understand, clarify, and provide guidance) for our audio engineering teams
Resourceful usage of existing tools and emerging technology for daily tasks; advocating and assisting in the design of new tools
Identify and elevate trends within the queue of incoming bugs; initiate collaboration to resolve issues
Work directly with engineering and cross-functional, audio-adjacent screening and triage teams in order to solve complex problems
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Music Technology, or equivalent experience
Strong foundation with scripting languages like JavaScript and Python
3–5 years experience working with issue/ticket tracking, routing, and resolving
Strong problem solving and debugging skills along with a diligent mentality
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with building tools and software with generative AI
Functional understanding of CS concepts and the software development lifecycle
Fundamental understanding and experience with real-time audio handling (sample rates, buffering, PCM, drivers, etc.)
Expert-level familiarity with Apple's products and platforms
Exemplary written communication skills, and diligent, yet confident personal communication skills
Experience with debugging low-level process and threading issues
Experience with Swift/Objective-C/C++ CoreAudio API experience
