DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Quality School-to-Work (Student) to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  1. Insight Generation : Collect, process, and analyze large datasets to provide valuable insights and recommendations to the Global Quality team, driving informed decision-making.

  2. Pattern Identification : Working with various data sources, you'll identify patterns, trends, and improvement opportunities, helping to optimize processes and enhance quality.

  3. Data Integrity : Ensuring data accuracy and integrity will be crucial, as it forms the foundation for reliable analysis and reporting.

  4. Reporting and Visualization : Creating reports and dashboards tailored to the business requirements of the Global Quality group will enable stakeholders to easily understand and act on data insights.

  5. Collaboration : By working closely with peers and internal customers, you'll identify and implement improvement opportunities using a data-driven approach, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  6. Data Consolidation : Consolidating data from multiple systems into a single organized data warehouse structure will streamline data management and accessibility.

  7. Advanced Analytics : Collaborating on projects involving statistical analysis and predictive modeling will help anticipate future trends and inform strategic planning.

  8. Business Intelligence : Leveraging business intelligence tools under the supervision of reporting managers will enhance the team's ability to make data-driven decisions and improve overall quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Flexibility and Collaboration : Be adaptable and ready to support and collaborate with different stakeholders across various engagements. This will help you build strong relationships and effectively address diverse needs.

  • Machine Learning Knowledge : While not mandatory, having some understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms will enhance your ability to analyze and report complex data, leading to more data-driven decisions.

  • Data Mining Skills : Familiarity with data mining techniques and tools, including SQL, coding, and big data collection, will be beneficial. These skills will enable you to extract valuable insights from large datasets.

  • Process-Oriented Approach : Develop a process-oriented mindset to evaluate interactions between different platforms for data flow. This will help ensure seamless data integration and management.

  • Data Visualization Proficiency : Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire, Qlik) and programming languages like Python or R will be advantageous. These skills will allow you to create compelling visualizations and perform advanced data analysis.

  • Microsoft Office Suite : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is preferred. These tools will be essential for data manipulation, analysis, and presenting your findings effectively.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science or relevant equivalent experience required.
