Description

The RF Test Development Engineer will develop tools and test systems on MacOS to evaluate and characterize a diverse portfolio of radio subsystems and components for the next generation of iPhones, iPads, and other Apple wireless products. You will be an integral part of the wireless hardware design team, enhancing the productivity of the group by streamlining the data collection and analysis process.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable RF Automation Frameworks, actively participate in code and architecture reviews, and bring-up next-generation prototypes to quickly bootstrap automation facilities.

  • Collaborate alongside multi-functional Firmware, Driver and Hardware teams to debug issues surfaced during automated testing.

  • Design efficient test automation algorithms to characterization RF-parametric performance, including EVM, ACLR, Sensitivity, PER, Throughput, Current Consumption, etc.

  • Work with multiple RF Technologies, including Cellular, mmWave, and WLAN/BT.

  • Consult with external vendors to define and understand new automation solutions.

  • Partner with RF Design engineers build accurate and efficient algorithms for new RF-based technologies.

  • Periodically present to management on various topics including key automation developments, new technology support strategies, and associated timelines.

  • Architect back-end software features to solve complex system configuration challenges in a multi-faceted, multi-functional firmware development pipeline.

  • You will spend more than 50% of your time coding, either writing new tests, extending existing ones, or debugging.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS with 3+ years of relevant experience

  • Must be able to write test programs or instrument control drivers from scratch

  • Practical RF Automation Experience with least one of these wireless areas: Cellular (4G/5G), WiFi/BT and/or RF Component Characterization (PAs, LNAs, switches, filters, and oscillators)

  • Strong with OOP programming concepts, languages such as Python, C++, or C#

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSEE Preferred

  • Experience with system programming concepts, languages such as C or Rust

  • Familiarity profiling and benchmarking application performance

  • General knowledge of algorithmic complexity and optimization

  • Proficiency with code revisioning systems such as Git or SVN

  • Experience in test and automation using the latest instruments from LitePoint, Rohde&Schwarz, Keysight, and others

  • Solid understanding of RF test equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and communication analyzers is required

  • Experience with: GPIB/VISA, UART and RF Bench Measurements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
