Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Accounts Receivable will lead, mentor and develop a world class collections team in a fast-paced environment while minimizing risk according to company policy, Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls, and SLA’s. This position is responsible for the overall collection strategy; direction, operational processes, resources, and tools that enable AbbVie accounts receivable to be more effective and efficient. This position partners with sales, finance, legal, customer operations and sales management across all AbbVie organizations to effectively communicate risk and develop tools/plans for mitigation with the goal of improving overall collection productivity. This role requires excellent organizational skills, ability to think analytically, and execute flawlessly in a high-volume environment. Developing people is a priority and this position is responsible for the management of individual development plans within the team.
Responsibilities
Financial:
Build and lead a cost-effective organization that effectively manages AbbVie assets and collects and applies cash from US customers. Ensure that the risk of financial loss from bad debt is minimized while supporting sales growth where possible.
Ensure that AR related Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and all other applicable compliance requirements are consistently met or exceeded. Develop, implement, and audit department policies and procedures related to minimizing losses and increasing recovery dollars.
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly audits on customer accounts to ensure accounts receivable processes are yielding best possible DSO performance.
Set measurable KPI’s to ensure activities are driving financial performance goals for the department. Document and escalate system or process opportunities which may cause performance targets to be missed. Implement and maintain appropriate controls and safeguards.
People:
Lead the AR team in achieving both the strategic objectives of the company’s AR function and accomplishing daily tasks; approve write-offs, reconciliations, lead AR initiatives/projects, assess impact of and implement required processes for new initiatives.
Provide positive leadership to the organization. Accountable for the coaching and development of the team by conducting regular staff meetings, one-on-ones, and performance audits.
Attract quality people to the department and encourage continuous learning and development.
Collaboration:
Foster a collaborative environment that promotes changes to maximize existing resources while also bringing positive change to current processes. Collaborate with other internal stakeholders and influence decisions to support AR goals and objectives. Maintain open communication with internal stakeholders to stay current on business changes and updates.
Build and maintain strong external customer relations. Analyze, design, gain division consent, and successfully negotiate settlement agreements on disputed AR with our largest customers. Build and maintain strong relations with external operating staff and headquarter functions.
Develop fact-based, sound recommendations for large account disputed AR settlement offers. Successfully attain executive support, and then proactively drive the negotiations with key customers.
Process Improvement:
Act as champion for process improvement within the department and influence process changes across many functional areas and businesses. Serve as a key member of the broader order-to-cash business cycle at AbbVie.
Based on recurring payment dispute history, identify root cause of recurring payment disputes and implement solutions for process gaps anywhere in the order-to-cash cycle.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
4-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent experience
5 years related work experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
5 years related work experience leading teams and managing team members
Strong computer skills including spreadsheets, modeling, and financial systems, including SAP
Proven experience in process improvement

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.?

Salary: $121,000 - $230,000
