This is a hybrid role which will require you to be on site at our location in Mettawa 3 days/week

The Project Manager’s primary function is to collaborate with cross-functional partners by providing leadership to develop, execute, and manage assigned projects in a compliant manner, within budget, and successfully achieving project objectives. The Project Manager will own and drive multiple assignments maturing technologies, tools, and data infrastructures leveraged by BU strategists and field-based teams to enable the Oncology BU’s rapid growth. This role has a significant impact on the seamless coordination of large scope initiatives, with responsibility for identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness of project management assets and operational processes.

Core Accountabilities

  • PROJECT PLANNING & MANAGEMENT – Lead complex, cross-functional projects or programs from initiation to successful completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Co-create and manage project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in partnership with stakeholders and sponsors.

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring adherence through efficient coordination and oversight.

  • Provide operational guidance and proactively identify opportunities to improve existing processes, gain efficiencies, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate project meetings, set objectives, track action items, and keep team members and stakeholders informed through consistent, proactive communication.

  • Track and report on project metrics and KPIs related to solution development and implementation; develop appropriate tracking tools and visuals.

  • Oversee budget allocation, procurement, and vendor management for key initiatives; ensure teams are accountable for budget usage and approvals.

  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies, implement mitigation strategies, troubleshoot challenges, and escalate as needed.

  • Manage stakeholder expectations and engagement at all levels, including executives, sponsors, end users, technical project managers from partner teams, and cross-functional contributors.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, internal and external regulatory requirements, and quality standards throughout project execution.

  • Conduct project retrospectives and summarize learnings for consideration in refining processes and standards across the broader project management team.

  • DEVELOP STRATEGY-DRIVING PROCESSES AND CAPABILITIES – Apply best practices in project planning and management in service of the Oncology Business Unit achieving strategic business objectives enabling aspirational growth.

  • Govern BU-wide strategic planning processes, ensuring consistent application of best practices across franchise teams, transparent communication of business strategies, and continuous improvement of processes and tools.

  • Drive the end-to-end planning of new or enhanced capabilities inclusive of technologies, tools, data systems, and analytics programs that augment strategic decision-making, field team effectiveness, and efficient operations.

  • Support the correspondence of internal data on our customers and business performance using an analytical mindset and fluency of AbbVie’s data ecosystem.

  • Champion the value of evolving strategies, capabilities, and solutions to build advocacy with leadership and stakeholders.

  • LEAD HIGH PERFORMING AND COLLABORATIVE TEAMS – Foster a culture of High Performing Teams with relevant project or program teams.

  • ESTABLISH SCALABLE STANDARDS – Support the program planning team in the creation, maintenance, and dissemination of best-practice project management assets to advance the Oncology BU’s capabilities.

  • Organize and curate tools, templates, playbooks, and related assets using shared internal platforms to streamline project management assets.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized methodologies and guidelines adaptable for use across teams.

  • Contribute to the selection of project management tools/software that support collaboration, reporting, and workflow automation.

  • Ensure tools and processes remain compatible with evolving organizational needs and scalable as the business grows.

  • Promote consistent and compliant adoption of standards through clear, influential, and instructional knowledge documents.

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging stakeholder input to monitor effectiveness and refine project management standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, and 5-8 years of relevant experience across project or program management.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or specialized training in program management and/or facilitation is preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the oncology therapeutic and commercial operations is preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of contracting, compliance, regulatory, quality, business systems, software deployment, training development and facilitation, communications and media, SharePoint design and administration, and project management and business excellence tools.

  • Fluency in data, technology (e.g. CRM), and analytics systems to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in implementing related programs.

  • Experience managing technology transformations, sales and marketing team enablement, implementing analytics programs, and implementing CRM platforms highly preferred.

  • Ability to lead without authority, driving through execution across multiple functionally diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic environment.

  • Ability to coordinate a cross-functional team, facilitate high levels of collaboration to achieve results.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Ability to think critically, recommend, and implement process improvement projects, seeking opportunities to optimize and achieve function objectives.

  • Ability to organize information in an appropriate format to gain stakeholder buy-in.

  • Sophisticated problem-solving skills, including testing assumptions for broader impact.

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and internet tools

  • Smartsheet proficiency is strongly preferred with mastery of building grids, sheets, forms, reports, dashboards, workflows, and templates.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a track record of trusted partnership and achieving results.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.

Salary: $106,500 - $202,500
