How will you make an impact in this role?
The P&L Management team plays a key role in driving the short-term and long-term financial performance of the US Consumer Services Group, supporting the President and CFO of this critical part of the company. The team does this through a variety of activities: translating the underlying business strategy into the P&L; creating and communicating the annual and long-term financials plans for the business; defining the key business decisions required to meet those business targets; and driving those decisions through the use of granular data analytics. The team collaborates closely with a variety of stakeholders in Finance, Product, Marketing, Risk and other teams to deliver its outcomes, and supports the financial performance across the US.
The ideal candidate will have a very strong strategic mindset; the ability to communicate concisely and with impact; a highly quantitative orientation, and excellent partnership and leadership skills. The role has substantial interaction with senior-level executives, and requires a commitment to very high standards of excellence in the quality of the work product.
Responsibilities:
Create the quarterly Executive Committee (EC) financial reviews for the USCS business. Create Long-Range Plan, Annual Plan Volume and P&L Reviews with the EC Working Group, USCS President and Leadership Team, and CFO/LFO for the business
Manage deep-dives into special topics related to financial performance – partnering with key Finance and Business stakeholders to understand the issue and serve up decisions to senior leaders
Leverage account-level analytical data from Cornerstone/Lumi to complement P&L projections and results, improving our understanding of key drivers or risks and opportunities in the portfolio
Use expert judgment, analytical insight, and input from stakeholders to define the final P&L projections for the business (including Spend, AR, ADB, Revenue, and PTI)
Review P&L details during results analysis and forecasts for accuracy
Run P&L simulations for specific business or macroeconomic scenarios; or to define ranges of outcomes; or deliver insights into P&L performance
Perform ad-hoc competitive analyses on traditional and non-traditional competitors
Partner closely with Business Unit FP&A, Data Science & Analytics (DS&A), Investment Optimization and LFO teams in communicating the overall narrative
Minimum Qualifications
Highly motivated strategic thinker with the ability to define the big picture and “tell the story”
Exemplary communication skills: concise, confident, and impactful with senior executives; able to maintain very high standards for written communications (emails, presentations)
Knowledge of Amex Card business preferred, including drivers, P&L dynamics, and financial processes.
Excellent financial and quantitative skills – ability to do the “quick math” rapidly and skillfully across the P&L.
Exceptional relationship and collaboration skills, including the ability to work in a highly matrixed environment across multiple finance and business teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, frequently with rapid turnaround times for senior executive deliverables.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial numbers with error-free materials.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of data mining tools / techniques (e.g., SQL, Python) preferred.
3 years of relevant work experience preferred.
Advanced degree in relevant field preferred.
Qualifications
Salary Range: $89,250.00 to $150,250.00 annually bonus benefits
