Role Number: 200602819
This is an opportunity to participate in a multifaceted and outstanding engineering group at one of the world’s leading companies. Candidates will have the opportunity to work on highly technical topics related to some of Apple’s latest products in power technology. In particular, the role includes participation in the design, simulation, testing and analysis of current and future wireless power products.
Description
In wireless power architecture role you will analyze, define and track power targets for wireless power sub systems and atomic power use cases derived from product requirements. Develop and document system architecture for wireless power management for optimal energy efficiency and consistent with product requirements for thermal and peak power constraints. The role requires broad knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) modeling of the magnetic field as well as familiarity with common wireless power circuit architectures (inverter/rectifier/impedance matching networks). The candidate should have basic knowledge of the physics of magnetic materials, Maxwell’s equations, transformer theory, circuit simulators and finite element analysis.
Write requirements, specifications, and test plans for both hardware and FW Define factory tests, test limits, and work with factory and peers to perform failure analysis and corrective actions Guide the team in the development of necessary algorithms, state-transition diagrams/flowcharts and analysis for each regime of operation
Interface with cellular chipset vendors to ensure consistency of chipset architecture with power architecture requirements. Create critical technical problem resolution activities. Optimize power delivery trade-offs such as efficiency, solution size, performance impact, cost, development risk and other system considerations. Conduct feasibility studies and work with development teams to deliver solutions. Wireless power charger system architecture, power electronics, EMC, magnetics design, EM- circuit simulation and verification.
Minimum Qualifications
Background in Power & Magnetics (Electromagnets, Motors, Transformers) with experience in electromagnetic simulations and modeling (e.g. Maxwell FEA, Comsol Multiphysics)
Experience in Power electronics circuit simulation, modeling and related software tools (e.g. Cadence, Simplorer, Spice, Matlab Simulink) and familiarity with common lab equipment and measurement techniques including network analyzers, LCR meter, power supply/amplifiers, oscilloscopes, etc.
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience in wireless charging
Familiar with Power converter topologies e.g. Buck/Boost/Flyback/LLC and control loop modeling
Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification
Experience with high frequency transformer theory and modeling
Experience with high volume manufacturing and statistical production tolerance analysis
M.S./Ph.D(preferred) in power electronics (ECE) program, or related area (e.g. engineering physics)
