Description

APPLE INC has the following available in San Diego, California. Test firmware and ensure ultra-high quality for Apple's next generation human interface devices. Test low-level software and microcontroller firmware interfaced with sensor and various other system components. Provide inputs for designing embedded systems from the user experience perspective. Develop and build test fixture, create tools, and authorize automated scripts. Execute manual and automated test plans on early prototypes, typically at the “grey box” level. Document test cases and code used for test execution. Resolve low-level software issues while collaborating with developers. Understand a technical architecture, break it into testable parts, and design a test plan. Develop custom tools and methods to exercise firmware and software features. Track performances, report results to management, and drive issuers to closure. Partner with User Study groups to validate the customer experience and learn about how humans use new input devices. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $129,600- $195,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.

  • Experience and/or education must include:

  • Oscilloscope functions, including probing analog and digital signal lines, triggering, detailed signal measurements, and waveform output

  • Object-Oriented Programming, enabling appropriate abstraction, transportable code design, readable structure across automated tooling and tests, and using python

  • Test Plan Development, covering expansive brainstorming of human factor experiences, systematic dissection of each possible case, correlation between cases to reduce redundant permutations, and step-by-step design of test sequences

  • Understanding low voltage circuitry to reference schematics and diagnose parasitics, signal SNR, trace continuity, and voltage response to diagnose hardware performance

  • Using Logic analyzer to dissect communication protocols, voltage sequencing, and sensor operation at a signal level

  • Understand OS principles, including kernel, memory management, ARM architecture, filesystem, and terminal

  • Knowledge of Agile Software development methodology to collaborate and iterate on automated test development with coding conducted in sprints

  • Embedded fundamentals knowledge, including state machines, interrupts, watchdogs, GPIO/peripheral input, and memory
