The GMNS Product team is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and lead. We work across almost every American Express business unit as well as with external partners, providers, and key industry collaborators. The GMNS Capability Delivery team within GMNS Product modernizes our Network and Acquirer payments ecosystems, building the rails that enable innovative payment solutions. Role Description

Within GMNS Capability Delivery Team, Merchant Data Enrichment and Enablement team is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to improve the quality of merchant data for digital marketing and business operations. The team partners closely with marketing, data science, technology, and other business units to enable these merchant data products. The enriched merchant data is then integrated with highly strategic use cases across the enterprise.

Reporting to the Director - Merchant Data Enrichment and Enablement, the Mgr./Sr. Manager Product Manager will be responsible for leading data products that leverage Big-data based matching and arbitration algorithm(s), use advanced ML techniques, manage data distribution, understand, and apply data governance rules, build and manage user-interface for data review / manipulation and APIs for real-time data integration to the use-cases.

We are looking for a dynamic candidate with strong hands-on experience of digital product ownership and data management background and a practical understanding of data systems/technology.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute product strategy for merchant data products and enable new use-cases to support GMNS and enterprise priorities.

  • Own, maintain and prioritize the product roadmap including new capabilities, features, enhanced services, expanded markets and product integrations.

  • Deliver strategic priorities for a global product by building scalable data solutions to evolve and transform merchant and cardmember experiences that rely on rich merchant data.

  • Establish and maintain relationship and communication channels with internal customers & stakeholders of the product across different organizations within American Express. Keep the partners engaged with latest product development efforts and capture their needs/inputs to further enhance the product.

  • Be a data quality guru with an ability to analyze, slice and dice data with a keen eye for identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and improvement to merchant data, as well as maintenance/governance processes around it.

  • Closely partner with business and technology teams to maintain the product backlog, frame business requirements (user-stories), test and deliver data capability projects using Agile methodology.

Qualifications

  • Qualification : Master's in computer science, Engineering, Information Management or a related (quantitative) field, and 2+ years of relevant experience or bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.

  • Product management experience : At least 2+ years’ experience in large scale data as a service products or digital platforms using Agile methodology.

  • Critical thinking : Ability to understand product architecture and connect the dots between business objective and technical solution to make informed business decisions.

  • Problem solving : Demonstrable analytical aptitude and ability to analyze data to come up with meaningful insights and make informed business decisions. Knowledge of SQL / Hive and other data querying and manipulation techniques is desired.

  • Effective communicator and influencer : Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills combined with an ability to interact effectively with diverse audience across Business and Technical teams.

  • Intellectual curiosity : Good business acumen to convey key benefits to customers and successfully launch new solutions. Ability to work with white space to design and bring to life solutions solving complex challenges.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit : Self-starter who can combine exceptional problem-resolution and critical thinking skills and be willing to adapt to new technologies / tools.
