The Image Quality and Qualification team is searching for a results-driven and organized Image Quality Lab Engineer to manage and run our Camera Image Quality engineering lab.
Description
In this role you'll be a critical part of a fast-paced, collaborative team. You thrive in a high energy, time-constrained, multitasking environment. Your main responsibility is to maintain, run, and build the engineering lab. This shared workspace serves many purposes for various teams and is home to a lot of equipment, centered around capturing data to measure and validate image quality. You will be the single point-of-contact for the lab and responsible for ensuring the schedule, equipment, and roadmap meets the needs of the product development teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience managing site calendars, site access, and equipment life cycle
Knowledge of photographic imaging, lighting, and rigging lab equipment
Experience in Lab Organization (equipment logging, checkout, space planning, etc)
Intermediate experience with measuring image and video quality in the lab, including experimental design, setup and capture automation
Independently able to construct and execute experiments in the lab using the scientific method with minimal input
Mechanical or mechatronics engineering skills to design and manufacture custom components for yourself and others on the team
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years of hands-on experience and knowledge of how to test and measure image and video quality in the lab, including experimental design and setup, capture automation, and image analysis.
Experience with objective and subjective image quality evaluation, including color accuracy, noise reduction, HDR, tone mapping, and sharpness.
Strong understanding of imaging systems, including camera sensors, optics, image signal processors, and computational photography techniques.
MATLAB and Python programming for image processing, data manipulation, file management, or automation of lab experiments.
Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of the following fields:
Photographic Sciences (Image/Color/Optics/Lighting)
Engineering (Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical or Mechatronics/Manufacturing)

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,300 and $213,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
