Job Description

*Hybrid 3x per week in Lake County, IL or Florham Park, NJ. Will consider remote candidates

Purpose:

The Head of Oncology Scientific strategic Projects, Global Medical Affairs Oncology (MHI) will establish and lead Oncology Strategic projects and programs Team across the therapeutic area (TA) to serve both US and International strategies for all indications/ brands innovating projects. This Team will develop and implement best-in-class medical affairs capabilities to support highly innovative evidence generation and launch planning, centralized specialist insights.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead and oversee Oncology Scientific Strategy projects and programs Team across the therapeutic area (TA) Oncology to serve both US and International strategies for all indications/ brands innovating projects.

  • Partner with relevant MHI innovation group to anticipate, detect, and plan Cross TAs initiatives and drive differentiated MHI strategies of scientific innovation in Oncology Portfolio.

  • Drive inclusion of disruptive innovation and strategy workshops in Oncology in cross-functional gap assessment and Integrated Evidence Planning (IEP).

Oncology Strategy Projects focus areas include:

  • MA Oncology strategy; able to lead complex strategy development; identifies organizational gaps and influences program environment (function heads, senior Development and Commercial management) to address gaps impacting portfolio and/or programs, evaluation of PTRS for Oncology MA studies

  • Will Lead a team to evaluate Global strategic integrated MA quality risk management plans, resolves complex problems and difficult stakeholder management situations. Generates critical path analyses and supports scenario planning. Leads issue resolution meetings. Leads risk identification, prioritization and mitigation planning processes.

  • Alignment between functional areas on operating processes, engagements, financial matters, and compliance and training with applicable Corporate, Divisional, and Functional Policies and procedures.

  • Development of insights, analysis and supporting materials to drive leadership discussions and frame critical decisions.

  • Group under his/her management Independently leads, organizes, and provides strategy development to teams for high complexity oncology scientific programs and establishes and maintains high performing teams

Qualifications

• Graduate degree or higher in medicine, science, management, or business administration or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., oncology/hematology).

• Over 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical Medical Affairs and Clinical Development.

• Experience in Global Medical Affairs Oncology is desirable.

• Over 10 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary scientific affairs operation, preferably global and/or functional in nature with experience across a range of high impact Clinical development or project plans.

• Proven track record for developing and implementing complex initiatives and transformational projects.

• Leadership roles in standard business procedures including project management practices, portfolio review, finance, budgeting, compliance and regulatory matters

• Strong financial acumen.

• Communicates effectively across cultures

• Ability to work across functions, build strong cross-functional relationships and partnerships, and can influence without authority.

• Strong analytical skills to comprehend and summarize large amounts of data.

• Ability to communicate effectively on key issues along with options and solutions

• Aware of the future direction of the business and the linkages across the businesses so that he/she can anticipate long-term implications of decisions and solutions on resource requirements, capital asset requirements, expense budgets and all areas of Oncology organization.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with advanced cancer treatment modalities such as ADCs therapies, combination therapies, and immuno-oncology.

• Experience in managing global medical affairs activities across multiple geographic regions (focus on Global strategy and US region).

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25-30%).

Salary: $200,500 - $382,000
