Role Descriptions:

This Director role reports to the VP of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Products and Solutions team. Director will lead the development and execution of EDM Products tools, creating Data Products & Marketplace, and partnering with Enterprise Architecture for Reference Data Management strategy and tooling. This role requires a strong blend of product management expertise, business strategy, and technical acumen to deliver transformative data solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the vision for the enterprise data strategy, aligning with product and enterprise teams to support innovation and the rapid-cycle delivery of data-driven products at scale.

  • Lead the development and evolution of AMEX’s internal Data Marketplace platform, enabling frictionless discovery, access, and governance of reusable data assets.

  • Partner with technology to ensure a seamless and secure data marketplace for data consumers.

  • Oversee Foundational Data Initiatives: Manage a portfolio of foundational data initiatives, collaborating cross-functionally with product, analytics, engineering, and governance teams to ensure alignment with both business goals and platform strategies.

  • Product Roadmap Ownership: Define and drive the roadmap for foundational data and technical products(such as Reference Data Management)—from ideation to development to adoption—enabling seamless access and usability for internal customers.

  • Champion User-Centric Design: Promote intuitive and scalable data product design, ensuring offerings meet the evolving needs of enterprise teams across the organization.

  • Lead Adoption and Engagement: Develop and execute adoption and engagement strategies for foundational data products. Establish clear KPIs and success metrics to demonstrate value and inform ongoing improvements.

  • Develop Business Cases and Value Narratives: Craft compelling business cases and value propositions for foundational data capabilities. Influence senior stakeholders to secure buy-in and ensure alignment with long-term technology investments.

  • Identify Strategic Opportunities and Partnerships: Proactively identify and prioritize strategic data opportunities and partnerships that enhance the utility and market value of internal data assets—driving both external impact and internal efficiency.

  • Build and Lead a High-Performing Team: Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team focused on data product management and strategy. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration through strong leadership and mentorship.

Qualifications:

  • Required prior experience in working in large financial institutions or banking industry

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; experience in the convenience retail and/or hospitality industry preferred.

  • 8 years of experience in analytics, and business intelligence, with a proven track record of leading data initiatives at an enterprise or line of business level.

  • Deep understanding of modern data platforms, metadata management, data lineage, cataloging, and governance frameworks.

  • Strong technical skills and understanding of analytics solutions, including experience with Generative AI and natural language processing

  • Demonstrated ability to translate data insights into strategic business recommendations. Strong problem-solving skills and experience in driving business results.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams. Prior people leadership experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts for business stakeholders.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
