Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Austin, Texas. Evaluate product designs of consumer electronics, batteries, and medical devices for safety while securing IEC 60950 or IEC 62368-1 safety certifications to globally commercialize products. Analyze technical information, research facts, manufacturing data, and test results to determine compliance with consumer electronics safety standards. Conduct comprehensive safety analysis of electric circuits, schematics, and assemblies at the component level to engineer safeguards, protect customers, and properties by leveraging hazard analysis, material analysis, risk assessments, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, FMEA, and Safety Fault Tree Analysis. Partner with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to improve processes and enhance process controls of safety critical components. For example, leverage manufacturing tests like dielectric testing or ground bonding tests to enhance process controls. Partner with multi-functional teams to identify and establish safety requirements. Domestic Travel Required 25% & International Travel Required 5%. 40 hours/week.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or related field and 5 years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in the job offered or related occupation.
5 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
Experience with CB Scheme Certification to design product safety into products.
Interpreting, evaluating, testing, and writing reports to product safety compliance standards IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950, 62368, 60065, 60601, or 62133 standards to evaluate product safety and author test reports.
Utilize engineering fundamentals (material science, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanical, human factors, electrical engineering, system engineering, and reliability engineering) to identify safety hazards and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of product designs.
Communicate complex technical topics verbally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences, including presenting product safety issues, field escalations, and opportunities for product design improvement to managers and executives.
Experience using laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, environmental chambers, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, data acquisition systems, high potential testers, and thermal imaging); and experience testing procedures and adhering to consumer electronics safety standards.
Experience conducting hazard analysis, material analysis, risk assessments, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, FMEA, and Safety Fault Tree Analysis to engineer safeguards and ensure customer safety.
Applying ISO 17025 to maintain laboratory equipment and test procedures
