Job Description
Global Merchant & Network Services brings together American Express' merchant and network-related businesses. This includes the management of our relationships across the globe with both the millions of merchants who accept American Express, as well as our partners in countries and territories that deliver card acceptance, issuance and innovation.
The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) product organization plays a central role in powering the American Express network—supporting billions of transactions annually across more than 170 markets.
We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead the development and scaling of our Network Tokenization capabilities, a critical component of modern digital payments. Tokenization underpins secure and seamless experiences across digital wallets, virtual cards, Agentic commerce and emerging payment use cases.
This is a high-impact role with end-to-end product ownership, spanning strategy, delivery, and performance. You will work across a complex, global ecosystem—partnering with engineering, commercial teams, and external stakeholders (including issuers, acquirers, and technology partners)—to deliver secure, scalable, and commercially successful solutions.
This role offers a strong opportunity to operate at a global product scale, leveraging American Express’s closed-loop network to deliver differentiated solutions. You will play a key role in shaping the future of digital payments, with direct accountability for product performance, adoption, and customer impact.
Responsibilities
Define and evolve the product strategy and roadmap for network tokenization, informed by customer needs, market trends, and regulatory developments
Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from concept and prioritisation through to delivery, launch, and ongoing optimisation
Drive adoption and commercialisation across issuers, acquirers, merchants, and partners
Establish and track key performance indicators, including adoption, transaction volumes, authorisation performance, and customer experience outcomes
Translate business and customer requirements into clear product specifications, including process flows and technical requirements
Work closely with engineering teams to deliver secure, resilient, and scalable platform capabilities, including API-driven solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, risk, legal, compliance, and commercial teams in a matrixed environment
Support go-to-market activities, including product positioning, partner engagement, and sales enablement
Act as a subject matter expert on tokenization and the broader payments landscape, including emerging technologies and industry standards
Qualifications
6+ years’ experience in product management or product development, with ownership of customer-facing or platform-based products
Experience within payments, fintech, or financial services, with a solid understanding of the payments ecosystem (e.g. issuers, acquirers, networks, wallets)
Demonstrated ability to define product strategies and deliver measurable outcomes in a complex, cross-functional environment
Strong technical understanding, including experience working with APIs, distributed systems, or payment infrastructure
Ability to use data to inform decision-making, prioritisation, and product performance improvements
Experience working with global or distributed teams, delivering high-quality products at scale
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align across multiple teams
Experience engaging with external partners or clients, communicating clearly and professionally
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with network tokenization or digital identity
Experience building platform or API-based products used by external partners
Understanding of payments security, fraud prevention, and authentication technologies
Experience driving product adoption and scaling solutions across multiple markets
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the UK is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
