We are seeking an Engineering leader to lead and grow our engineering teams. You will not only help build our next generation of products and services but will also be directly responsible for developing our future leaders. You will lead highly performant teams to research, align, architect, drive, and build solutions directly impacting Apple’s bottom line.
Description
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who embodies our culture, core values, and compassion for others.
In this Senior Engineering Manager role, you will work in a range of capacities, supporting strategic planning, engineering development, and portfolio management. You will also manage large, cross-functional initiatives that include New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness. In addition, you will play a key role in delivering new strategic technical solutions, using your ability to collaborate and influence effectively.
You will manage complex, large-scale, global, cross-functional programs. The successful candidate must have experience initiating, managing, and enhancing business processes and system infrastructure programs. The ability to communicate and partner across the organization with business groups and regional teams is critical to the role.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to build and enhance applications and technical capabilities, aligning them with Apple’s overall business strategy and applying your expertise in full-stack software development.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a successful team of managers, engineers, architects, and specialists. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within your organization.
Technical Oversight: Provide technical expertise and guidance on architectures, systems design, and performance optimization. Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of these platforms.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including partner technical teams, product management, program management, quality engineering, security, and customer support, to deliver exceptional customer experiences and deliver optimized solutions.
Project Management: Manage complex projects, including major initiatives and product launches, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in cloud computing and machine learning. Protect our intellectual property and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of overall industry experience, with 7+ years building and leading high-performing engineering teams with a diverse portfolio of global technical applications and programs
Deep understanding of project, program, and portfolio planning and delivery to the level that you can set standards, implement process improvements, and coach team members
Exceptional communication skills, verbal, written, and presentation
Ability to motivate and inspire a talented technical team
Demonstrable ability to deliver large-scale initiatives quickly, even with high levels of complexity and ambiguity
Creativity to develop new strategies and options, championing continuous improvements
Proven talent to positively influence people across all functional areas of an organization, build bridges, and cultivate relationships; comfortable being a subject matter authority
In-depth familiarity with all aspects of the software development lifecycle from planning to deployment and maintenance
Broad understanding of on-premise and cloud computing architectures, systems design, and performance optimization levers
Hands-on experience writing code in a contemporary software language (such as Java, Python, Swift, or other) in an integrated systems context
Ability to exert tactful influence in a matrixed organization
Character to consistently exhibit high levels of discretion, integrity, and confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Entra, or Google Cloud
Experience operating large-scale multi-tenant infrastructure as a managed service
In-depth knowledge of algorithms and distributed system architectures
Knowledge of global sales strategy and the tools that automate and assist these processes
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $252,400 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
