Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Develop tolerance model of systems for failure analysis. Analyze system cycle time chart for optimization. Perform design for manufacturing review and approvals of optical / mechanical systems. Evaluate design concept for scale, efficiency, robustness, uptime and other key criteria. Develop inspection equipment that determines if a product meets Apple’s high standards across all the mechanical portion of hardware that is made - iPhone, Mac, iPad, Watch and others. Work on system layout, architecture, and cycle time optimization for optical, motion and mechanical systems. Deep dive into databases and work with optics improvements to see defects consistently to drive inspection and ML advancements. Work with 2D/3D triangulation laser system and CCD inspection system such as Halcon, Keyence, Cognex, and/or Visco. 25% of International or Domestic Travel required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $128,400.00 - $193,800.00/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Design, Electrical Engineering or related field and 1 year of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
1 year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
Performing image processing, including capture of machine vison images from different types of hardware and post processing in tools including C#, Cognex, VisionPro, MATLAB, or Halcon, to evaluate images in production and project quality.
Performing Measurement Systems Analysis in JMP statistical software and MSA methodologies, including repeatability and reproducibility, correlation, ANOVA, Range, and control charts, to evaluate and validate tools and systems to perform part quality inspection.
Conducting data analysis in JMP and MATLAB to summarize large data sets, evaluate process capability, determine where inspection may be needed, and conduct failure analysis.
Performing optical inspection and metrology using knowledge of lasers, CCDs capture part, and data process for part inspection for product quality inspection.
Demonstrating mechanical systems design experience in creating design specifications for projects including cameras, lens, optics and other vision components, to evaluate and optimize automated inspection systems with vendors.
Applying computer or machine vision or machine learning techniques to build models that are deployable into a manufacturing environment.
Using software development skills and knowledge of basic networking concepts and protocols in TCP/IP and HTTP for communication and data transmission between the IPCs used on the systems.
