Description

APPLE INC has the following available in San Diego, California. Implement software and drivers for common firmware interfaces, chipsets, communications protocols, and various SoC IPs. Implement features to support hardware testing and diagnosis of Apple's mobile devices. Work closely with various teams, like electrical engineering, systems engineering, hardware testing, QA, factory, manufacturing, and operations. Debug and fix hardware and low-level software issues locally and at manufacturing facilities. Use oscilloscopes, logical analyzers, and proprietary IP analyzers to characterize and debug hardware issues. Bring up hardware and debug software including low-level drivers and assembly code using debuggers including gdb or lldb. Work with hardware protocols including at least two of the following: UART, I2C, SPI, PCIe, MIPI, USB, or HDMI. Analyze test results and modify designs as needed and update existing computer equipment to ensure compliance with new software and assist with our computer hardware manufacturing processes. Domestic and international travel required 20%.
40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,974 - $210,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related position.

  • 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:

  • Designing and implementing software and low-level drivers for common firmware interfaces, chipsets, and communications protocols for various SoC IPs.

  • Using debuggers including gdb or lldb for hardware bringup.

  • Working with hardware protocols including at least two of the following: UART, I2C, SPI, PCIE, MIPI, USB, or HDMI.

  • Debugging both hardware and low-level software issues.

  • Physically debugging hardware, modifying components, and measuring parameters using specialized instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic, and signal analyzers.

  • Implementing and debugging thread-safe, multiprocessor software in C/C++/Python/Lua to support concurrent computation.

  • Analyzing test results, modifying designs as necessary, and updating existing computer equipment to ensure compliance with new software and assist with hardware manufacturing processes.
