Finance Data, Technology & Transformation (FDT&T) is an integral part of the Finance organization with a mission to solve Finance's existing and evolving data needs by using Technology approved tools to build scalable, reliable, and flexible data structures. This position will have the primary responsibility to lead end-to-end data analysis and documentation of process architecture to deliver value-added solutions for key stakeholders within the Finance organization at American Express. This is a product owner role that will determine the proper sources and processes for acquiring, enriching, and provisioning data required by Finance in the following major areas: Financial Reporting, Operational Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Management Reporting, and Advanced Analytics processes.
The job’s focus will also include - but not limited to:
Lead the analysis of Finance process and system requirements
Define the functional design for data acquisition, enrichment, and provisioning process
Partner with Finance stakeholders and Technology partners to design, build, test and deploy solutions to fulfill Finance process requirements
Test case and plan creation, execution, and coordination
Implement data process controls and support ongoing process maintenance efforts
Responsibilities:
Finance process analysis
Assess the data and capabilities in Treasury’s existing TDS data warehouse and the processes supported by that environment to define a solution-based approach to decommission the TDS environment
Work with the Finance process owners and other teams to analyze and document their process requirements in terms of data, required transformations, and reporting/analytical output
Participate in development of plans and strategies, best practices, and standards related to data management processes, data products, data security and programs
Create features for ongoing sprints and manage a prioritized list of data requirements / user stories
Document processing requirements, including data and transaction volumes, scalability, security and performance requirements
Solution Design:
Work with Technology, Finance partners, source system owners, and other stakeholders to locate the data required by Finance and ensure the data architecture design supports Finance’s accounting, reporting and analytics requirements
Identify required reference data needs and design the processes for collecting and maintaining reference data
Design processes to acquire the required data and ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness
Document future state Finance processes for data acquisition, enrichment, provisioning, and reporting
Contribute to decisions about tools, methods, and approaches
Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies
Build/Deployment:
Work with Technology, Finance partners, source system owners, and other stakeholders, to deploy solutions across the appropriate Finance user base
Build, test, and deploy solutions to acquire, enrich and provision the required data and ensure data integrity, accuracy, and completeness
Perform data validation as part of Finance user testing as needed.
Lead the creation and execution of systems integration and pre-user acceptance testing plans and test cases
Data Controls and Ongoing Production Support
Design and build ongoing data process controls by collaborating with Technology and Data Governance as needed
Investigate data anomalies and research ad-hoc data inquiries as part of ongoing production support
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Technology, Information Management, Data Management, Engineering or similar field
Strong understanding of relational database concepts and experience working in a big data and/or cloud platform (Hadoop / Google Cloud) preferred
Knowledge of SQL and familiarity with query tools (Big Query)
Basic understanding of Agile methodology and delivery concepts
Previous experience working closely with Technology teams to deploy systems to re-engineer processes and solve complex business problems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to form productive working relationships with key stakeholders
Impactful written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Self-motivated, proactive, and dedicated to delivering high quality data products
Positive attitude and demonstrated strength as a quick learner
An innovation mindset along with a transformational approach to process efficiency and effectiveness
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in various Finance disciplines such as Accounting, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Management Reporting, Treasury, Tax or Banking is a plus

Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually bonus benefits
