The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express products and services through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. We have an ambitious goal: to be the most admired brand in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective.

The Global Brand Strategy & Insights team sits within GABM. We are responsible for accelerating brand consideration globally by delivering robust insights, transformative brand strategies, and key capabilities for marketers across the organization.

Our team is looking for an experienced Senior Manager – US B2B Product Insights. This role will sit within our US Product & Marketing Insights COE team to drive strategy and customer connectivity across key initiatives that are essential to success of the Global Commercial Services (GCS) organization. This position reports to the Director of US B2B Product Insights.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Partner with American Express’s US GCS stakeholders to deliver against key strategic priorities, using customer insights that pertain to small, medium, and large businesses.

  • Use strategic focus, analytics, and agility to consistently produce insights that drive actionable outcomes and business results (increased acquisition, revenue, share of wallet, etc.).

  • Ensure business partners have a clear and actionable understanding of the American Express customer and prospects, through a synthesis across internal and external sources.

Qualifications:

Project Management/Research Expertise:

  • Has the able to lead a research project end-to-end and translate findings into compelling and actionable recommendations for the business.

  • Takes a consultative approach; helps to articulate and prioritize goals, key questions, and information needs of the business partner and translate into ‘researchable’ objectives.

  • Deep knowledge of the credit card/financial services industry and small business landscape a plus.

  • Has strong analytical skills with ability to design research programs and methods to address business needs; can articulate rationale (the “why” behind a given recommendation).

  • Leads and inspires research agency partners ensuring the strategies and methods deliver against business objectives and create impact.

  • The ability to navigate operational complexities and deliver projects in a compliant way.

  • Strong attention to detail

Relationship Building:

  • Can effectively build relationships, partner, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels (i.e. BU, Dir, VP, SVP)

  • Is a strong strategic thinker with an ability to create clarity in the midst of ambiguity by focusing on meaningful outcomes.

  • Is a skilled relationship-builder who identifies and seizes opportunities to connect insights and people across projects, portfolios, and lines of business.

  • Has executive presence with high degree of comfort in working with and presenting to senior leaders.

Demonstrates Corporate Maturity:

  • Is a self-starter. Able to efficiently prioritize, problem solve, and handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Operates with a can-do attitude. Effectively works through conflict or ambiguity and proactively seeks solutions to problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years in consumer insights / market research, particularly in financial services with emphasis on quantitative and qualitative market research leveraging advanced analytics (including conjoint, segmentation, TURF, focus groups, in-depth interviews, etc.).

  • Mix of research and product development experience a plus.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with exceptional ability to inspire action and compelling recommendations.

  • Marketing or market research related post-graduate degree a plus.

  • Strengths in analytics and storytelling to turn research results into insights that influence business decisions.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously to embed insights into product line strategy.

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Qualtrics, etc.)

  • Experience with product line strategy is preferred

  • Experience working with financial services companies is preferred.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
