As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing innovative technology that enables each generation of Apple products to capture even more incredible photos than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. Collaborating with teams across Apple, you’ll conduct research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll create a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.
The Camera Hardware Engineering group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Image Quality Field Test Engineer to coordinate, execute, and analyze subjective image quality tests. Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate real world camera performance, translating objective data into user-centric photo shoots that illustrate the advantages of new camera technologies. Description
• Collaborate with hardware teams focused on developing new camera technologies
• Develop and nurture partnerships with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals
• Expertise in the camera systems and professional photography equipment including lighting setups in studio environments
• Analyze subjective image and video data collected in the field to identify, reproduce and isolate bugs
• Generate reports and present executive-level findings
• Conduct tests related to product benchmarking studies
• Translate objective measurements into real world subjective captures
• Develop and implement subjective image quality tests for camera systems
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs over uneven terrain
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Imaging Science, Photographic Sciences, or science field
Objective image quality evaluation experience
Real world testing experience using professional lighting, photography equipment, and planning location logistics
Photography/Video portfolio
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years in relevant industry experience
Understanding of how camera optics, image sensors, or ISP algorithms (AE, AWB, AF, etc.) impact final images/videos
Experience with PhaseOne, Fuji, Nikon, Canon camera systems
Expertise in executing and capturing image quality related field shoots
Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and self motivation to expand technical knowledge
Experience with Python, Shell Scripting and Matlab
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
