Job Description

The AbbVie Patient Services Portfolio Marketing – Associate Director reports to the Director, APS Marketing and is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative strategies for AbbVie Patient Services’ portfolio of patient support brands.  This role requires strong leadership and ability to work across a complex matrixed environment.

This role has direct reports and must demonstrate the ability to influence and lead cross-functionally to successfully drive business outcomes. The candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment with high expectations and maintain a customer-centric focus that drives high-quality deliverables, innovation, and performance. 

Key Responsibilities Include (may shift based on business needs): 

  • Developing innovative and impactful strategies that align to the APS strategic imperatives and APS Marketing priorities

  • Responsible for creating an oncology portfolio marketing strategy for APS. This includes developing an understanding of oncology customer needs specific to APS-supported products, identifying unique oncology market opportunities, informing the development of a unique care model that meet market needs, and ensuring field teams are set up with marketing support to build relationships and achieve goals.

  • Lead development of APS Oncology Brand Strategy inclusive of APS oncology positioning, value proposition, core claims and messaging, and market image.

  • Serve as the lead for APS marketing for the cross-functional pan-immunology team

  • Partner with immunology brand teams on new initiatives and evolving the pan-immunology care model, including improving care strategies

  • Provide APS marketing direction guided by market insights (i.e. market research, advisory boards, consultants, etc.) to help define where to play and how to win with patients, providers, and office staff and other potential marketplace stakeholders across oncology and immunology

  • Responsible for managing pan-oncology and pan-immunology marketing budget

  • Collaborate with business partners during annual strategic and tactical planning processes

  • Partner with Marketing Business Insights and Analytics (MABI) team to develop market research plans for pan-oncology and pan-immunology

  • Optimize change management processes as marketing strategies evolve

  • Work with AbbVie Digital Lab, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, OEC, Business and Technology Solutions to ensure comprehensive governance process upon roll-out and scaling of any new innovations or initiatives

  • Partner with APS cross-functional teams on annual and long-range planning efforts to ensure APS organization is future fit

  • Manage a team of marketing managers, prioritizing investment of time in their growth and development.

  • Oversee agency relationships, focusing on partnerships with their Account, Strategy, Project Management, Creative, Measurement, Digital, and Media teams to elevate creative excellence and drive consistency across APS marketing programs

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of digital and/or omnichannel marketing experience in the pharma industry required

  • Advanced degree and previous people management experience required

  • Demonstrated ability to develop brand value proposition, positioning, key claims, omnichannel strategy, and budget

  • Strong background in customer, patient, or HCP service and retention strategies

  • Proficient planning and organization skills, attention to detail, execution, agility, and follow-through

  • Strong analytical and strategic skills.

  • Strong communication (oral, written, and presentation) and interpersonal skills

  • Executive presence and presentation skills across a variety of organization levels and disciplines.

  • Experience with matrix-based teams and project management.

  • Excellent command of MS office suite

  • Self-starter, and proven ability to proactively drive projects toward successful completion.

  • Ability to manage and lead various external and internal partnerships, including agencies and production vendors

  • Demonstrated experience leading marketers and cross-functional teams

Salary: $137,500 - $261,000
