Apple’s Data Center Operations team supports the infrastructure that powers Apple services at scale. As an Inventory Control Specialist, you’ll help ensure material accuracy and accountability across our logistics and inventory systems. You will support daily inventory activities, assist with documentation, and help train support-level staff—all while maintaining a clean, organized, and audit-ready work environment.
Description
This role is ideal for someone eager to develop in the field of inventory control and logistics. Working under general supervision, the Inventory Control Specialist contributes to transactional accuracy, process adherence, and inventory visibility.
Responsibilities
Support daily inventory operations including goods receipts, put-away, inventory transfers, and system transactions
Monitor and validate part locations, bin labeling, and item movement to ensure alignment between physical and system inventory
Assist in the coordination and execution of routine cycle counts; investigate and escalate inventory discrepancies as needed
Contribute to documentation and review of inventory processes and standard work procedures
Maintain clean, organized inventory storage areas using Lean and 5S principles
Train and support contractors and junior logistics personnel on basic inventory workflows, safety, and compliance standards
Assist with inventory audits and collaborate with peers to ensure system integrity and data accuracy
Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of site-level SOPs and Work Instructions for inventory control processes
Support KPI tracking efforts and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying small-scale process enhancements
Handle Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) materials in accordance with operator requirements, including accurate receiving, processing, and accountability of FTZ inventory transactions
Call out issues affecting inventory accuracy, data integrity, or safety to site leadership promptly
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or General Studies with relevant coursework; or equivalent job related experience.
Experience in warehousing, inventory control, supply chain, logistics or equivalent
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds waist high
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems
Experience with Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives
Familiarity with Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) documentation and operator requirements
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
Clear verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow established procedures and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Foundational understanding of inventory tracking systems or ERP tools
Familiarity with cycle counting, bin management, or basic inventory concepts
