DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Material Work Lead- Level IV (Craft Warehouse) to join our team specializing in Logistics for our Cummins Inc. facility in Maxton, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Coordination : Act as a key resource in coordinating operations across various areas like Inbound, Outbound, and Kitting, ensuring smooth interaction with operations management.

  • Health & Safety : Promote a safe working environment by reporting hazards, complying with HSE standards, and leading HSE training to actively engage the workforce.

  • Quality Assurance : Perform quality checks to minimize cost and quality exposures, identify non-conforming materials, and follow established quality procedures.

  • Efficiency in Delivery : Optimize warehouse space by accurately sorting, labeling, packaging, and storing incoming goods, and operate equipment to meet customer expectations.

  • Team Communication : Communicate effectively with your team and support teams, ensuring training completion and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Continuous Improvement : Seek ways to improve quality, safety, processes, material flow, and employee development, contributing to overall business goals.

  • Housekeeping & Maintenance : Maintain a clean and orderly work area, support planned operator care and maintenance tasks, and perform routine housekeeping duties.

  • Flexibility & Support : Remain flexible to perform miscellaneous duties as required, working with peers and support staff to identify and maintain equipment in need of repair.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Customer Focus : Build strong relationships with customers and deliver solutions that meet their needs. Understand their expectations and strive to exceed them.

  • Ensures Accountability : Hold yourself and your team accountable for meeting commitments. Set clear goals and track progress to ensure everyone is responsible for their tasks.

  • Mode Selection : Evaluate and select the appropriate transportation mode and equipment type by analyzing shipment volumes and business requirements. Aim to balance cost, quality, and time to provide optimal shipping methods.

  • Trade Knowledge Application : Apply your knowledge of trade regulations to Cummins processes and systems. This will help minimize trade risks and costs, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

  • Warehouse Inventory Control : Manage physical inventory using effective inventory control methodologies. This will help maintain accurate inventory levels and meet customer expectations.

  • Warehouse Operations : Utilize warehousing tools, systems, and methodologies to meet defined metrics for inbound and outbound operations. Ensure smooth and efficient warehouse operations.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

College, University or equivalent degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience in a related field such as logistics, warehousing and third-party logistics provider management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Information:

  • Demonstrated problem solving, continuous improvement disciplines, computer literacy and familiarity with SPC techniques.

  • Demonstrated leadership & communication skills in a manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of all workstations in designated area is preferred.

  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility and meet other physical requirements of the position and work scheduled overtime requirements.
